Lenovo 100s ideapad Bitlocker problem after Windows update Nov 2018.

My Lenovo 100s got a Microsoft update on 2/11/18. Since restarting I get the bitlocker blue screen asking me to enter the recovery. I never set one up, was never asked to set one up, so don't have one. Been backwards and forwards with Lenovo, who say they are working on the problem and have now said it is a problem for Microsoft to sort out. Contacted Microsoft who have said it is a hardware problem for Lenovo to sort. Please can someone just help to sort it out.

re the issue with Lenovo 100s and bit locker having been onto Lenovo and Microsoft to get issue resolved

first speaking with LENOVO they confirmed it is a Microsoft issue 100s Ideapad  DOES NOT HAVE TPM CHIP INSTALLED NOR IS THE HARD DRIVE PARTIONED  OR A SEPERATE BOOT OPTION IF YOU READ MICROSOFT OWN CRITERIA  for bit locker to be enabled THE MACHINE NEEDS THESE also as bit locker is Microsoft

not LENOVO . Having now spoken to a Microsoft agent in the U S A he now agrees that it is their issue

having pointed out their own criteria for bitlocker  he agreed beyond his pay grade and would force it up the line

I pointed out also two days before the update KB4462919 within my Microsoft account where you are supposed

to find this key my setting was off it now shows on not changed by me so why cannot the Microsoft accounts be rest to off by default like the update did earlier in year .I have written in disgust to Microsoft AS THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME UPDATES HAVE CAUSED ISSUES WITH LAPTOPS WITHIN THE FAMILY AND WE NEED ANSWERI AGREE CORPARTIONS NEED BIT LOCKER I DONT

    FrankDebelevich  hi

thank you for your input yes I too am losing faith with  MICROSOFT  with in my little area I have 4 family members

all students who have lost a lot of there course work and 14 others all with either 2 machines or in one case 3 all with same issue all different makes so it proves it is MICROSOFT issue I have now advised some to go to Chromebook

which do still have some issues and I bought a none working Chromebook for  £5.00 and paid £17.60 for a new ssd drive

and 1hour later I have a very fast self updating 10 seconds max built in security only down side as such you need internet but in this day and age local hot spots and phone it all works very well and I have not to date found any thing

that is windows only related and cannot be done on this chrome book and am now  seriously  looking at pulling the LENOVO apart and seeing if I can convert it to chrome cost might be the deciding factor  time is not an issue as an 80 year old I do have it  PS I was told you could not repair the chromebook by a large pc company

    will keep you all posted

    regards brrpage

I too have been caught in the BitLocker trap.  Being part of the technology world for a living (Sales), after reading many months of comments and responses, I can safely say neither company's engineering teams (Microsoft nor Lenovo) are truly paying much attention to this issue.  They leave it to the customer facing positions (personnel) to provide hope of resolution while waiting for the anger to die and all of you/us to go away.

And the reason is economics...both companies have a list of issues that their engineering teams need to address (sometimes in the thousands), and order the issues based on potential revenue lost or gained.  They start at the top with higher priority issues and work their way down.  Since there is not an endless supply of engineers, many never get addressed.  And this isn't a big market for them.

Suffice to say, this issue is way down the list.  So our families are down a laptop because it doesn't make financial sense to pay nearly the original cost to fix a problem we should not have had in the first place.  I have lost all respect for Microsoft in how BitLocker was rolled out and their indifference to the problems it caused.  They won't be seeing much of my money anymore.

    hi paul

the latest round of LENOVO/MICROSOFT ISSUE BIT LOCKER

still no resolve from either but Microsoft engineers are now aware of the issue ???? after 2 months

and are working hard on a fix if I could find away to send you the agent online transcript you would pay good money for such a comedy  .

    regards brrpage
