Lenovo 100s ideapad Bitlocker problem after Windows update Nov 2018.

My Lenovo 100s got a Microsoft update on 2/11/18. Since restarting I get the bitlocker blue screen asking me to enter the recovery. I never set one up, was never asked to set one up, so don't have one. Been backwards and forwards with Lenovo, who say they are working on the problem and have now said it is a problem for Microsoft to sort out. Contacted Microsoft who have said it is a hardware problem for Lenovo to sort. Please can someone just help to sort it out.

re the issue with Lenovo 100s and bit locker having been onto Lenovo and Microsoft to get issue resolved

first speaking with LENOVO they confirmed it is a Microsoft issue 100s Ideapad  DOES NOT HAVE TPM CHIP INSTALLED NOR IS THE HARD DRIVE PARTIONED  OR A SEPERATE BOOT OPTION IF YOU READ MICROSOFT OWN CRITERIA  for bit locker to be enabled THE MACHINE NEEDS THESE also as bit locker is Microsoft

not LENOVO . Having now spoken to a Microsoft agent in the U S A he now agrees that it is their issue

having pointed out their own criteria for bitlocker  he agreed beyond his pay grade and would force it up the line

I pointed out also two days before the update KB4462919 within my Microsoft account where you are supposed

to find this key my setting was off it now shows on not changed by me so why cannot the Microsoft accounts be rest to off by default like the update did earlier in year .I have written in disgust to Microsoft AS THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME UPDATES HAVE CAUSED ISSUES WITH LAPTOPS WITHIN THE FAMILY AND WE NEED ANSWERI AGREE CORPARTIONS NEED BIT LOCKER I DONT

    Hi Claire I am not much help sorry, I have dropped mine into the shop and said re-install of Windows 10.

    As ours came with it preinstalled and I have no licence key, what happened to the good one days of buying a CD with it on.

    They have had it a week and said it is a slow process due to a very small harddrive, but they are working on it.

    And yes Levono offered to replace the motherboard $382 for a $300 machine, I definable will not buy a Levono again, we had a HP and took that back and exchanged for Leveno on Harvey Normans advice, BAD ADVICE GIVEN.

    But that is odd that it won's stay on everyone has different issues, have you tried following one of the prompts like Troubleshoot or Use a Device and then leaving it sit to see if it stays on and flattens?

    Good Luck

    Barb

    I've been following this thread since I have the same problem.

    I have a couple of issues with the workaround. First, my IdeaPad won't stay on. Once I get that Bitlocker error it shuts off after a minute. I've gone weeks without using it and it maintained a good bit of power so I'm not sure of another means to drain the battery but I'm willing to try if you have a suggestion.

    Second, the download link for the installation media says we need a license key to install it. My Lenovo came with Win10 preinstalled, and I never thought to back up the license key. Looking at the instructions I'm wondering/hoping that the installation key is embedded somewhere that the installation process can detect. Do you know?

    The only other option I've come across is to buy a new version of Win10 and I can't see spending $139 to fix a $200 computer LOL

    Thanks for your posts, Paulw656!

    Hi Malin.

    The temporary solution I had from Lenovo was :

    "For this issue we do unfortunately have to ask you to wait on a Microsoft patch to resolve this.

    However we do have a potential workaround solution for this;

    A resolution for your Bitlocker issue may be to run recovery media after your devices battery has been drained.

    Please spend the next few days draining this battery as you see fit.

    In the meantime please create yourself a Recovery Media using the below steps (on a separate device);

    Here is the link of the Microsoft page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    And the direct link for the tool: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

    (Follow the steps on the first link to create an installation media on a USB drive)

    When this is created and the battery is completely empty please follow the steps below to run this;

    https://download.lenovo.com/km/media/attachment/win10%20rusb%20pub_en_english_sp40m55672.pdf

    Please do ensure that your device is fully drained of power and that you start this process as soon as you place the device on charge to provide power."

    Unfortunately no one has any luck with this, let me know how you get on,cheers.
