Unable to update Windows 10 to v1809. Freezing at boot after reboot.

I am not being able to update my windows 10 device. After all the update files downloaded, I restarted the system (2 times). But it freezes at a boot screen like the image. It doesn't boot up. Even the keyboard isn't working at this time. And after I force shutdown using button and restart again, it takes too long to restart. And everything is back to normal like previous.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is it only me facing this issue?

How to solve this or update my system? Someone, please help me.

PC specs:

RAM 32 GB

Graphics: NVIDIA 970

CPU: Intel(R) core(TM) i7-5820K @3.30GHz 3.30GHz

64 bit

I've installed a UXtheme patcher and a theme. If its the problem here.

On acer switch 11v, i was able to update with update assistant tool, with a few errors on restart. Eventually got it, and restarted a few times after just fine. But i shut down completely, and thats when problems started.  It would never boot up. Eventually forced to use recovery drive, but did little to help. Tried startup repair, fix mbr in command prompt nothing worked. Still wouldn't boot from a complete shutdown.  Forced to do a fresh install. Then i updated to 1803, which was fine.  But when i tried to update to 1809 again, same thing. It would never boot up from a complete shutdown. So did a fresh install again, now on 1803 again til this gets sorted out.

I'm having the EXACT same issue on the same machine. A few of my students are claiming their devices did Windows Updates last night now the machine freezes on startup!

I'm still on 1803 now, my machine won't let me update to 1809 anymore even when I do a "check for updates", which leads me to believe that at least Microsoft is aware of the problem, or at least has detected that my machine has done a bad update in the past. But the fact that it allows your students to update is worrisome, in that it doesn't flag specific models as troublesome, only users who have had unsuccessful udates?

Curious - what version of windows 10 are you on?  My HP Spectre (Win 10 Pro) is doing the same as yours it appears.  !809 is not being offered.

I reverted back to 1803, and it has stayed there ever since.  Even with daily "check fif updates" it won't update to 1809, which us us  i know it's blocked on my acer switch 11v.

I also had same problem with Acer Aspire Switch 11V.  I updated Windows 10 Home from 1803 to 1809.  First try was to freeze at a reboot.  I long pushed the power button to shutdown.  I turned on the power button again after the shutdown.  The Windows 10 Home did not start up.  I did it twice. Then, Windows 10 Home reverted from 1809 to 1803.  I tried one more time to upgrade 1809. This time, I made a success to upgrade Windows 10 Home as 1809.  Then, Windows 10 Home Freezes  suddenly.  I gave up 1809 and I restored Windows 10 Home as 1803 from the backup.

Yeah, I guess that every Acer Aspire Switch 11v user will eventually have the exact same problem, when upgrading to 1809.

I can only urge you and all the others, to contact the Microsoft Support (Feedback Hub, hotlines, etc.) AND the Acer support, so that they have to acknowledge the problem and fix it.

I mean, for now, we could all just stay with 1803 and keep using our Laptops, but since we have the Home version of Windows 10, the Windows Update application will eventually try to ugrade to 1809 again. And  then again...  and again....

Even if we all upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, to be allowed to stay with 1803, Microsoft will drop the support for this version and render our computers unprotected....

So as I say, the only solution is, to make Acer and Microsoft acknowledge, that there is a problem, so that they can fix the incompatible drivers or whatever.

I for one have already contacted the Acer support and after taking their sweet time, they just replied like: "Yeah, we do not guarantee compability with this particular version of Windows", which translates to "Not our problem, buy a new Laptop if you want compability".

    Nice!

Meanwhile the Microsoft support is like: "Please go ahead and issue a feedback in our dedicated Feedback Hub".

The only problem here is, that feedback in the Feedback Hub will just disappear and will be completly ignored, unless it gets +100 upvotes.

I really hope, that we can generate some attention to this problem. I bought my Acer Aspire Switch 11v not even 3 years ago and now Microsoft and Acer will render it obsolete with their idiotic update and support policies.

    Greetings

    Robin

While all this was going on I bought myself an Intel NUC i3 which is now running 1809, and is synced with my switch 11v since both are under the same Microsoft account.  I'm finally experiencing 1809, which is kind of nice.  The switch 11v is still on 1803, still not updating, thankfully.  I'm hoping it (switch 11v) will skip 1809 entirely, since I've read here that some have had better luck with the next update than they had with 1809.  I hope the same will be the case for the switch.

I'm in the same boat I've been able to upgrade three of my four computers.  A older Asus i7 desktop, a year old Dell Inspiron both Pro 64 bit, an old Asus netbook with an Atom processor with 32 Bit Home but no luck with an old Dell Latitude D820 with 32 bit Pro.  With the Latitude I'm experiencing the same problem everyone else here is reporting.  It has had run every version up to 1803 with no issues.  I did have to use a trick I found online using a Geforce graphics diver since the Quatro chipset didn't have a driver but that trick has worked fine.  I don't use the Latitude that much any more but like keeping it as a standby computer incase I ever have a problem with the Inspiron.
