Unable to update Windows 10 to v1809. Freezing at boot after reboot.

Have anyone tried this? It´s what msi suggests but i don´t want to format my computer one again just to try.

I tried this back in October and it did not help, i even tried using the second bios on my mb but same issue. Microsoft then pulled the plug on the update so I stopped getting support from MSI, now Microsoft have re-released the update and we have the exact same issue again!

I think MSI just don't want to admit that there's an issue with their motherboards even though we can clearly see they are the only brand of motherboards having this issue with w10 1809

I just tried to install the 1809 update from disk, got the same result as OP however after returning to Windows (and the old 1803 update) i received the following Message:

"0xC1900101 – 0x20017 Failed in Safe_OS Phase with an Error"

Dont know if that provides any more meaningful information..?

I gave up.  Sold my X99 and bought a 2700x and an X470-F from Asus.

Works better than my 5930k and was a wash when selling the 5930k and x99 board. 

Sad to hear. Just of principle I refuse to do that, i find it wrong to give the industry more Money simply because they decide to stop supporting Products. Essentially that will give them even more reason to do so, if that makes consumers buy more of their Products.

If i am to Upgrade, its either because something has died (outside of the 3-5 year warranty period), or if something truly superiour has appear and I want it. My 5820k has been running at 4.6 ghz for years, and still keeps up well.

Part of the reason I switched to AMD.  It's sad when I can get a $250 chip that gives me hte PCI lanes I need, with more cores and better performance since its not hamstrung by Spectre and Meltdown, than a chip I paid $899 for. 

Oddly at 4.25 GHz, no custom OC, the 2700x gets better gaming benchmark scores for me than my 5930k at 4.5 ghz.  Same RAM and 1080ti's in SLI as well

im starting to consider upgrading too. After all, I have paid more then 1700$ for RTX sli Cards With raytracing. And now im not able to play anything With raytracing because i cannot install the newest Version of Windows. However, how long will a New purchase last until i find myself in the exactly same situation again? 1 year? 2 years?
