Hardware Access Error - Messenger - Webcam and Mic

1. I'm using Messenger on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
2. The error message I get is "Hardware Access Error". 
3. The webcam is Internal. 
4. I'm using HP Pavilion 15-cs0010ca. 

So how do I solve the problem?

I've got the same issue,, I don't even know where to find the camera options in facebook,, can you help me please?

Here's a fix that will work no doubt.

1. Run REGEDIT as Admin.
2. HKLM/Software/WoW6432Node/Microsoft/WindowsMediaFoundations
3. Choose the (Platform) key. If you do not have a (Platform) Key create one.
4. In the Platform Key Create a new 32 bit DWORD called (EnableFrameServerMode) and keep the values at zero.
5. Exit registry and reboot machine.

You will be good to go with any kind of App access to camera and Mic. Backup the registry first before you edit it as always.

The MS Douches still can't figure this out..

For the past week, I've been getting this pop up when I want to make a Messenger video call.  Been using this for over a year without a glitch.  Both camera and mic work fine with Skype and Zoom but not with Messenger.  Checked all settings in FB and Google Chrome to make sure mic and webcam are 'allowed'.  Tried a couple of troubleshooting YouTube vids.  Even did a whole recovery process, going through the pain of reinstalling apps...ugh..., with no results.  The only thing I remember that may - or may not- be related is that I connected my laptop (where I use Messenger) to my Samsung bluetooth speaker.  After that, Messenger video calls went kapout!!!  Please HEEEEEEEELP!!!!

In regards to your concern, please help me with following questions:

1. Are you using Messenger application or on the Web Browser?
2. What is the error message/code you are getting?
3. Is the Webcam an external or internal?
4. What is the make and mode of the Webcam/computer?

If you are using the Messenger application:

Try to allow the privacy settings for the app to make use of the Webcam and Mic.

To do that, you can go to Settings>Privacy>Camera. Look for the Messenger app and toggle the camera access option to ‘On’.

Do the same for the Microphone option as well.

Since you mentioned that the issue occurred after the computer was paired with the Bluetooth speaker. You can try to remove the specific device.

To do the same, you can go to Settings>Devices>Bluetooth & other devices. Select on the device name and click on ‘Remove device’.

Please get back to us with the required details, if the issue persists.
