Hello,
For the past week, I've been getting this pop up when I want to make a Messenger video call. Been using this for over a year without a glitch. Both camera and mic work fine with Skype and Zoom but not with Messenger. Checked all settings in FB and Google Chrome to make sure mic and webcam are 'allowed'. Tried a couple of troubleshooting YouTube vids. Even did a whole recovery process, going through the pain of reinstalling apps...ugh..., with no results. The only thing I remember that may - or may not- be related is that I connected my laptop (where I use Messenger) to my Samsung bluetooth speaker. After that, Messenger video calls went kapout!!! Please HEEEEEEEELP!!!!

I have all that you adived, but still I can't access the camera and the microphone, on their own they work, but in FC they do not work. geting this message :
An error occurred while trying to get access to the microphone:
Hardware access error.
To make a call, you need to turn your microphone on. This will let people hear you during the call.
You can turn this off later. Learn more

I had the same issue made all the changes etc and then down loaded this app off microfsoft site and now can messenger no probs. It cost just over $5

Hi I tried everything with this error to fix including regedit with no luck
I downloaded this app off Microsoft store and now it is good to go... it did cost $5 but it works and messenger for Facebook with video and nic now all good through the app.
