Hardware Access Error - Messenger - Webcam and Mic

Hello,

For the past week, I've been getting this pop up when I want to make a Messenger video call.  Been using this for over a year without a glitch.  Both camera and mic work fine with Skype and Zoom but not with Messenger.  Checked all settings in FB and Google Chrome to make sure mic and webcam are 'allowed'.  Tried a couple of troubleshooting YouTube vids.  Even did a whole recovery process, going through the pain of reinstalling apps...ugh..., with no results.  The only thing I remember that may - or may not- be related is that I connected my laptop (where I use Messenger) to my Samsung bluetooth speaker.  After that, Messenger video calls went kapout!!!  Please HEEEEEEEELP!!!!

    Hello,

    I had the same problem. I used Messenger for some time, and suddenly i received the same error message. I tried :

    1- Enable Privacy setting under Camera (app)

    Was already enabled.

    2- Enable/Disable other cameras in Device Manager

    Didn't work. I only have one camera.

    3- Add EnableFrameServerMode under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ WOW6432Node\ Microsoft\ Windows Media Foundation\ Platform

    No change

    4- Repair Messenger. (i didn't know it existed, but i found just beside the Uninstall button in the control panel)

    SUCCESS! It works now

    buenas, yo tengo el mismo  problema con mis audífonos con micrófono, me dice error de hardware al realizar una llamada por messenger, eso que permití mi micrófono 

    en google. Espero su ayuda gracias.
