Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

Last night I updated to 1809, and it all went smoothly, but then I find that all my files in Documents are DELETED. Gone. Poof. This included many crucial documents and financial info. Yes, I have a backup (I think - using Windows Backup to a NAS). But this is pretty bad. Did no one in the first two rings run into this yet?

I understand (from the news) that this happens to all files in Documents that aren't synced to OneDrive. Further, the Documents folder is really an agglomeration of "Documents" from several different paths - not sure how that works, and it may or may not relate.

Hello Doy86ar's.  Sorry to hear that this issue is "still Happening" and it happened to you. Believe it or not Yes, this Did happen to me also "Again x3".  Look on your computer for a file called: "Windows.Old" that will have all of your information in it. But, Also...and I say this to Everyone..."Back-Up your Computer and...Create a Restore Point!"   Like: ("Restore to June 24, 2019 @ 11:00:00AM"). That way IF it happens Again and a New Windows 10 Blue Screen opens up You can at least then you can Quickly type in: "Control Panel" and Restore Back to what you had just like you had~before.  But, Yes...This Issue should Not be Happening to us I strongly and fully agree! When you first realise that there are NO files in your Document file, you PANIC and then two things comes to your mind.  These are:

1. Files are lost, or
2. Files are deleted. 

Yes, this WAS my problem and i at first came to two such threads and found no solution for lost or deleted files. Now resolved by a Microsoft Technician and coming back to give a solution so others can be helped under the new update to 1809. This is not a silly suggestion. It is tested and tried.

I also thought my files were deleted and also said that to the Microsoft Technician. He said that the previous problem was now resolved. True, they are not deleted. During the update to 1809, silly Microsoft went and saved it elsewhere! I was reacting the same way as you with the Microsoft Technician - full of anger (as you come across even if you say you are not) and therefore not rational!! 

Your problem must be different from the early days of update which you are stuck with now. Why not go to Microsoft instead of trying to resolve it on your own if still unresolved.

You have made no constructive contribution. Just want to kill the suggestion because of your previous problem! What a difficult negative thinking man! Just stuck in a negative mindset.
