Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

Him Randgaard.  I'm so sorry to hear that you too lost valuable backup files. And, yes, Macrium Reflect is an excellent tool to use for I learned about that product from the: "Ask Leo Webcasts" for, he use to work for Microsoft years ago.  Either way my friend, This was a major problem and not just some little mistake  for thousands if not millions Lost Data and not everyone 'backed up' as you and I did so... what do they do now?

Oh well, whats done is done buddy and Lord willing Microsoft will start to Really Fix a lot of these issues we are all experiencing and hopefully~Soon! lord bless, Michael.

Sorry for my late comment back to you.  As I said above earlier on what happened to me and , also, your comment stating you too went through this with I'm sure thousands of others.  I'm sure you've heard by now and found out we needed to:  "Delay updates for 6 months or less".  I just don't understand ~why?~ we are still having so many problem with Windows 10 for it has been out since 2015. Where are Microsoft's "Mr. FixIt Bug fix Patches" for the above mentioned and Crashing and missing Edge Browser Apps?  And, now, myself and others are also experiencing Microsoft Office issues also!  And, yes, I also understand that all "New OS" ever since Windows 98, 200, Window XP, Vista and even Windows 7 all had some type of issues but Nothing like what we are Experiencing in Windows 10. OK, enough of my venting my friend, be well, have a little more  patience and hahahah...Pray!  Bye, Michael.

Good lord, I am not a computer expert. I got the 1000 GIGs to back up my damn computer not erase everything I've ever done. Is there a class action suit against Microsoft for this **** yet? Because I would like to join.

After hours of updating to 1809 I lost most of my programs, It deleted all the files from one of my 2tb external drives. And then after letting Microsoft restore my computer (they had to because restore was gone) my boot files were gone. I then had to pull hard drive and go to another computer to fix the boot files. I am now back on desktop that was ruined by the 1809 update. But I still have an empty drive to deal with. 1200 hours of music and years of photos and documents gone. They (Microsoft) should be liable for trashing peoples computers. or at least make sure to let people stop and back up before their required updates take over.

You might get lucky if you try a free product by Piriform called Recuva. I would try to restore files to another HD or USB.  The data is not usually lost, Its the headers that are removed from files. Don't write to the old hard disk as you may over-write your file data. You might have some issues with the file names as you try to restore them. Do  not expect 100% recovery, but so long as the disk has not been formatted you should get a large amount of data back.

I've been using it for years - tried all the others and its the BEST !.  Gives you ransomeware protection of your backups too (paid version). Many other features. Mine runs automatically and can back up a full image of system or specific folders only. Allows for multiple backup strategies  and e-mails me when a backup has successfully completed.   

You cannot rely on MS for mission critical data.  I hate seeing people lose their data. MS are never going to give the user what they really require - a robust secure fully functioning OS which is bulletproof. Too much emphasis on features to promote sales.

Where is Microsoft Management ???

I have heard or seen any regret or any accept of respsonsibility?

Alas - it gets worse. Microsoft's Backup silently stopped backing up back in February and didn't tell me, and I didn't notice. So I have maybe 100 hours of tedium ahead of me as I try to reconstruct my financial records... And the restart (3x) didn't do anything. Sigh.
