Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

Last night I updated to 1809, and it all went smoothly, but then I find that all my files in Documents are DELETED. Gone. Poof. This included many crucial documents and financial info. Yes, I have a backup (I think - using Windows Backup to a NAS). But this is pretty bad. Did no one in the first two rings run into this yet?

I understand (from the news) that this happens to all files in Documents that aren't synced to OneDrive. Further, the Documents folder is really an agglomeration of "Documents" from several different paths - not sure how that works, and it may or may not relate.

No wonder Windows has such a bad reputation.  Yes this latest Windows 10 "upgrade" deleted many files.  Even if you back up everything, now you must take hours or days to restore what you had and some files are just lost forever.

My wife has one PC with Windows 7, because of various software that either won't work or isn't available on 10 and, even though it has been working for years, since it was purchased new with Windows 7, a couple months ago the message displayed that THIS MAY NOT BE A LEGIT COPY OF WINDOWS.  (Or some such crap.)

Actually, this was the last straw.  I will be starting the Linux class soon and after that I won't have to worry about another error by MS.

Hello again David. Yes my online friend, I fully understand your frustrations yet, you should have changed your settings in her Windows 7 and checked off: "No"  on: 'give me Microsoft updates just like other updates'.  Yet, what is done is done sadly now. Aah, we are Always Learning my friend and just like with the Android Systems that we also all needed to do tons of research and studies to learn and understand it's functions, settings, and limitations.  Win10 also my friend. Alright, so now we have Windows 10 and... it is here to stay so, once again: "we must learn this also" buddy.   And~Listen, David, you can buy a cheaper and still very Legal... Windows 10 Pro License on eBay for almost nothing as opposed to what? ~$199.00!  Purchase one and then go into: Start, Settings, Windows Update, Activation, and type in your New License that you bought and received in an email David to Activate and then all will update and Register.  If you run into problems David: Do this: Type CMD and when she opens~Right Click and Run it

    As Administrator> Type in:

    slmgr.vbs/ ipk  xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

(Where you see xxx Use Your Licence) . Next type:

    slmgr.vbs/ ato

That will do it for you also David Yet, Worse case seeing Microsoft is all backed up Trying to help us David...If you still run into a problem ...

    ·       Use the Press Win Key+ R ...Run command Box:

Type:  Slui.exe 4    "and then Hit enter"   a Box opens... and then...

    ·        Call to Activate @   1-855-801-0109****in the USA and…

    ·        (Have the 25-40 digit numbers ready).I hope this helps you and some others my friend, bye and Lord Adonai Bless you, Michael.
