Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

That's fine if System Restore works.  I can create restore points on my computer, but when I try to restore, it always fails.   :-)   I don't have the same problem, but my advice is frequently create a manual restore point and then try restore to that restore point to make sure system restore actually works.

Hello Myron.S. These update and changeovers from: 1703 or 1709 to 1809 and now to 1903 not to mention the Adobe Update are sadly causing millions of people untold horror stories and Data Loss.

Thank God my Laptop returned back to normal after doing a System Restore with Restore Points that I created but sadly again like yourself and Doy86ar that doesn't seem to be the case.

I do not work for Microsoft friends nor am I a computer technician per say yet I have and am in the middle of building or we might call it rebuilding two computers for a Church and my Brother for his Birthday.

I install the OS "operating system's", programs, updates, manufactures original and, then, newer updated drivers and everything else that's needed for our computers to function properly like, Microsoft Word,

ActiveX, the PDF Reader, VLC Player and on so on. What myself and millions of other people around America and the World like the two of you at the moment is "Why?" is our "Windows 10" Still doing this?

I truly wish I had that answer for you guys. I do tons of research and reading on these issues for my own edification and projects my friends and I did come along this answer from a few years back from a

Last night I updated to 1809, and it all went smoothly, but then I find that all my files in Documents are DELETED. Gone. Poof. This included many crucial documents and financial info. Yes, I have a backup (I think - using Windows Backup to a NAS). But this is pretty bad. Did no one in the first two rings run into this yet?

I understand (from the news) that this happens to all files in Documents that aren't synced to OneDrive. Further, the Documents folder is really an agglomeration of "Documents" from several different paths - not sure how that works, and it may or may not relate.

Hello Doy86ar's.  Sorry to hear that this issue is "still Happening" and it happened to you. Believe it or not Yes, this Did happen to me also "Again x3".  Look on your computer for a file called: "Windows.Old" that will have all of your information in it. But, Also...and I say this to Everyone..."Back-Up your Computer and...Create a Restore Point!"   Like: ("Restore to June 24, 2019 @ 11:00:00AM"). That way IF it happens Again and a New Windows 10 Blue Screen opens up You can at least then you can Quickly type in: "Control Panel" and Restore Back to what you had just like you had~before.  But, Yes...This Issue should Not be Happening to us I strongly and fully agree!
