Windows 10 1809 update deleted all files from Documents!

Last night I updated to 1809, and it all went smoothly, but then I find that all my files in Documents are DELETED. Gone. Poof. This included many crucial documents and financial info. Yes, I have a backup (I think - using Windows Backup to a NAS). But this is pretty bad. Did no one in the first two rings run into this yet?

I understand (from the news) that this happens to all files in Documents that aren't synced to OneDrive. Further, the Documents folder is really an agglomeration of "Documents" from several different paths - not sure how that works, and it may or may not relate.

Are you saying you have just received version 1809 of Windows 10 that was released in October 2018.

In October 2018 version 1809 was re-released after being withdrawn/blocked for this problem. I believe that's what the OP is referring to. If you have another issue with a later cumulative update then you should start a new thread.

What a total nightmare -- this "update" deleted my entire OneDrive folder in seconds and deleted entire folders and subfolders on my computer, renaming some key folders, and wiping out records galore that are mission critical to me. This might as well be a malware virus from the underworld yet it is Microsoft! NOw computer files can't sync with OneDrive and I haven't found any recovery from it.

I take that back. None of those codes are working. I got a reply back from them saying it was someone fake. I believe that if you jst use EaseUS's free partion recovery file tool, you'll be fine. I am testing it out right now and if it works will make a video on how to use it.
