I have just updated my windows using the October update (10, version 1809) it deleted all my files of 23 years in amount of 220gb. This is unbelievable, I have been using Microsoft products since 1995 and nothing like that ever happened to me.

Files were located at C:/Users/rober/Documents/

This location is still present, with no files. All of files deleted.

I am extremely upset. Not sure what to do….please let me know.

Robert

I've had the exact same problem. Out of pure luck I had my thesis work folder on the desktop otherwise it would have gone too. Never had a problem like this one. This is literally unacceptable.

    Hello!

Please, do not try to install on your disk any software or Windows or copy to it any files.

Please, use recovery software like Handy Recovery and you have a big chance to recovery all of your data!

    Good luck!

    Not true, JennytheGeek.

I just ran a Windows Update, and allowed everything to proceed as normal.

When I restarted my computer this morning, all of My Documents are GONE. I am VERY UPSET.

I had a recent backup, using a Seagate portable, and Dashboard, so I'm trying to see if I can recover using that, but so far, no luck. I am beyond upset, to put it lightly.
