I think you are complaining to the wrong people LoraliEmerald. This is NOT Microsoft you are talking to! You are talking to ordinary computer users just like yourself. If you really want to complain, please send you complaints to Microsoft not here. Everybody here, unless they add to their name (Microsoft) is trying to help people like you with their problems. Please do not rant at us?

2018-10-11T15:37:26+00:00 My PC updated to October update auromatically last evening and after around 8 hours of shutting down it won’t boot anymore. After a few hard resets i tried to boot safe mode but that didn’t work either. I don’t trust that a reinstall will keep my personal files so I’m very worried. What to do?
I’m not an insider and I haven’t chosen to update anything manually.

2018-10-11T15:29:47+00:00 If you have stopped the October update, then what was the update that came thru on my computer last night.
I'm pissed. I was going to shut off my computer, when it said "update and shut down". Since I don't trust you clowns to get much right, I didn't shut it down, because I wanted to clone my hard drive before your update. Yet, I get home from work this morning to find that you've done the update anyway.
If I'm missing ANYTHING, or some of my software doesn't work properly, are you going to fix it for free??
Forcing updates on us is what I consider trespassing. My computer is my property, and you have no right, without my permission to mess with it.

2018-10-11T13:58:34+00:00 ....This afternoon at about 2:36 pm.I tried to do a test with 3 documents (word, excel, ppt) as below pictures I saved in "download folder" then I did shutdown my laptop after working
And now, at 8:40 pm tonight, I opened my laptop again, checked & saw that all 3 documents in this download folder gone! Lost all !
Now I save my documents in back-up drive.
Hope the root cause found out to have an new updates to fix this by Microsoft Technical Team soon!
Many thanks
Sincerely

2018-10-11T07:59:08+00:00 Jenny, sorry I wasn't trying to say you had made a mistake and wasn't aware you had seen it already. It's difficult to read through 160+ replies and catch all responses from one individual.
As you've seen the blog then that's fine.
I agree with you that most issues are down to user settings (but not their fault) but some settings clash with the updates. I've been in the Insider program for some time and have a machine running the latest. I read the Insider Preview forum on a regular basis and don't recall any mention of lost files during the build changes to 1809.
