Windows 10 October update now available

Certainly going nuts here with my Windows 10 Laptop.  It boots to HP logo, goes to the screen where it says wait while we are preparing your computer, not to turn the computer off, etc. for a few seconds, of course it goes into a blank screen!  Then I SCREAM!!! I am not sure if this is due to the October update or if I have actually had a hardware failure.  I've tried everything known to bring it back up with the same results.  Any advice anyone?  Thanks...

Have you got a backup of windows? If you have, restore windows with that. The preferable backup is with 'Macrium Reflect' that lets you boot into a restore phase with a USB drive called 'Windows PE' and then you can restore any of your backed up 'Images' that you have. If you haven't done that then your only option is to try and boot into 'safe mode':

If you have a Windows 10 setup DVD or USB memory stick lying around, or if you can create one right now, you can use it to boot your broken PC with Windows 10 into Safe Mode. To create a Windows 10 installation drive, follow this tutorial on another PC: How to create Windows 10 installation media (on a USB stick) or download a free ISO file. Then use it to boot your broken Windows 10 PC from it and wait for the installation environment to load. Choose the language and keyboard layout you prefer and click or tap Next:

1. Click or tap on the link that says "Repair your computer" on the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. When asked what option you prefer, choose Troubleshoot.
3. On the "Advanced options" screen, click or tap "Command Prompt (Use the Command Prompt for advanced troubleshooting)."
4. Inside the Command Prompt window, type the command: bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal. Press Enter on your keyboard and, after a moment, it tells you that "The operation completed successfully."
5. Close the Command Prompt and choose to Continue on the next screen.
6. After your PC reboots, Windows 10 starts into Safe Mode. Log in with a user account that has administrator permissions, and perform the changes you want.

IMPORTANT: The problem with this method is that it tells Windows 10 to enter Safe Mode automatically, every time you start it, until you tell it not to. To disable this setting, and get Windows 10 to boot normally again, run the same procedure one more time and type the command: bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot.

That I would not know but my HP has never had any issues with any of the updates ever.

Now, I have an Intel 64 bit Processor in my Desktop.

Some HP computers come with AMD Processors and there have been problems stemming from AMD in the past.

I use an HP and I didn't lose any files. So that is not the issue here.

So why is the HP issues extensively written and complained about 'here'? I have never ever had problems with W10 and its updates (that is of all 2018-10 Cumulative Updates'). its been the most reliable windows EVER!!!! Yes, some updates didnt install internally through 'Windows Update' especially with v1809 but, I installed and downloaded the v1809-17763.1 directly with*"Windows 10 October 2018 Update installation media*" file name 'Windows10Upgrade9252.exe' (on 3 computers) and the '2018-10 Cumulative Update-17763.55' file 'windows10.0-kb4464330-x64_e459c6bc38265737fe126d589993c325125dd35a.msu' downloaded at 'https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4464619' and they all installed and worked perfectly. I also use 'OneDrive' extensively through Office 365 and I've never ever had any issues affecting 'OneDrive' and loss of files, even when its synched while an update was downloaded and installed and that includes v1809. My computer works perfectly and without any issues.

 I don’t know what system and/or imbedded system you have but if you have an imbedded system, there is where the problem lays. 

What is an "imbedded" system? 

Typically refers to Internet of Things (IoT) version of Windows.  There is a Windows 10 IoT version that can be installed on small devices like a Raspberrry PI or others.

I know what an embedded system is, but it doesn't make sense in the context of the post I replied to.

Sorry, that should have been embedded and what I meant was the additional and individual specific software (which are extensive and range as an addition to the windows spectrum) that certain laptop and desktop manufacturers add to coincide as their nice software additions with windows versions e.g. HP, Dell, Acer etc probably, I should have not used 'Embedded' as its technically not correct but, these are the windows systems that v1809 affected adversely as thse manufacturers don't bother to update them to be compatible with the latest windows versions, hence, the problems with v1809.
