Yup. Our girl is super quick these days.

I think the phrase is a little behind. :~) Nod, nod, wink, wink!

Thanks for that blog post https://tinyurl.com/yaulqmth    .  Although none of my machines experienced any loss of file(s), I appreciate the hard sleuthing work of the engineers and the great explanation of what happened.

Thought it was worth quoting on the Windows 10 forum. I see CK has posted to the Insider forum.

    Doesn't surprise me I'm a bit behind. :-)

I am a windows 10 user of build 1809. I downloaded manually and installed from the official website of microsoft using the media creation tool 1809. I have been using since now, It is a wonderful one. I have no issues in this build. But I noticed people saying of losing files after updating today. But my folders are safe. But I installed in a manual way. That is, not running the setup directly but opening the sources folder and running the setup. I installed it and It's the best again. But that doesn't mean it has no problems in others pc, But I'm sharing my views. It is good and I have no security flaws.

Hi there. The way you manually downloaded it wasn't a bad idea. I had success, too, but I didn't download from the official Microsoft website. I always go to Windows Update after I first sign into my laptop each morning. I didn't even realize there was the new version to update to when I signed in and was on my desktop October 2nd.

The new version update plus a definition update for Windows Defender appeared after I checked. Windows Update automatically started "preparing for the update to the new version which was version 1809, OS build 17763.1.

Once it was finished preparing for the installation, it began downloading the new version. I had to restart, of course, for the update to finish the process. Once it was finished, it rebooted and I was back on my desktop with the new version installed. I had no problems whatsoever. All my files and folders were still there including my videos, documents and picture files.

I've never had a problem with any of the versions of Windows 10 when it came to downloading and installing. I have a tip for anyone that will help in the future and it could save people a lot of headaches regarding downloading cumulative updates and new version updates. Always check to see that you have the latest Intel Drivers and other graphic drivers that you need. I always check to see if there is an update for my AMD Radeon graphics, too.

One more step to take is go to your manufacture's website and check for an update for your BIOS. It will save a lot of problems in the long run if you check for those updates before downloading a new version of the Windows 10 OS.

It would also be a good idea to do a backup before downloading the new OS version. I use a WD 1T external hard drive and do my backups with Backup and Restore (Windows 7).

I as well updated to Windows 10 1809, I lost my C:Users folder and both C:Program Files, I also noticed I lost my D:Program Files86 folder but nothing else so far I've noticed missing and most of the stuff in my user folder was backed up beside saved game files. My concern is there any software that is currently unavailable to us that have gotten upgrade? ( Will we be getting support if chrome or a driver is not working, by the way I absolutely love the black background for file explorer and the alt+g gaming app.)
