hello , Yesterday I installed the 1809 update , and today i noticed that each time i restart my laptop the brightness level is being reset automatically to 0% or 25-50 i'm not really sure , and after windows will boot up , i will need to manually adjust the screen brightness again to 100% . Just disable 'DisplayEnhancementService' in services.msc and brightness will stay at 100%.
This will not let you set it at any other setting (50%,75% etc,) but who does that anyway.
This so called problem will be fixed April 2019 release as there is no more settings for brightness in the pre-release version now, unless they put it back.

Who does it? Erm, millions of users in their laptops? Save battery? Adjust brightness to illumination conditions? I like the screen dim at night and bright at day. That's not a fix for me, that's solving (or worsening) the problem by removing a essential feature.
I have disabled the DisplayEnhancementService and I can still adjust my brightness using the function keys on the keyboard. The display brightness in the power options are still gone. When I reboot, my brightness remains at the previous setting.
So if you have a laptop with the vendor specific drivers for the keyboard function keys, this workaround will get you by.

With it disabled, the Windows 10 brightness indicator thing will move up and down, but the screen doesn't follow. Its stays stuck.

I'm an idiot. I forgot the first time i tried this to disable the service (so it won't restart at boot) and actually reboot the machine to get the results. Now the screen works as it should.
