Windows Brightness issue after the 1809 update

hello , Yesterday I installed the 1809 update , and today i noticed that each time i restart my laptop the brightness level is being reset automatically to 0% or 25-50 i'm not really sure , and after windows will boot up , i will need to manually adjust the screen brightness again to 100% . I searched the web and i found this https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10-october-2018-update-common-problems-and-fixes#fix\_brightness\_windows10\_1809 , and it might be an update issue i think , by the way , my power plan is set to maximum performance and my laptop is always plugged in , and solutions or ?

I have the Intel UHD 620 Graphics (4K display) in an HP Spectre x360 13t and the upgraded graphics driver did not fix the issue for me. I've seen different results with different versions of Windows 10. I'm running the Enterprise version.

Hi,

The answer is updating your graphics driver. I have updated my Intel Graphics Driver here

I've tried to update my driver and now it is fixed.

This new DisplayEnhancmentService is applying a hardcoded brighness on every boot

located at

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DisplayEnhancementService\State\LGD03030_00_07DA_C4]

LGD03030_00_07DA_C4 (is my monitor yours will be different)

"SliderBrightnessPercent"=dword:00000032

"ScreenBrightnessPercent"=dword:00000032

you will have to take ownership of State then give your self write permissions

and set

"SliderBrightnessPercent"=dword:00000064

"ScreenBrightnessPercent"=dword:00000064

this then forces 100% on every boot

or better still disable DisplayEnhancementService and the value set by your self will be respected on every boot

atleast in the case of my Vostro 3750 (4 hours old install of the latest October 2018 Update on a secure erased ssd)

As I said to you Adam, I am not enjoying the unique problem you are. I set it, reboot, shut down, sneeze 5 times or more and nothing changes. I can set it at 50%, 60% or 100% and it remains where I set it.

It must be the Model I have and this one came with Windows 8.1 and I've been updating of course with each new update. I hope you can get that solved but if it is indeed entirely dependent upon Microsoft, the wait might be long, although I hope that is not the case.

The NVIDIA card in this is a Geoforce GTZ 765M and it's updated as soon as the new updates tear on down through the tubes.

I can also access the same thing you can. the point is as so many people have mentioned, once I put the screen brightness to 100% when the laptop is restarted, it goes to 50% automatically until you reset it back to 100%. This is a very common issue with 1809 build....

1809 would also not detect the Nvidia G force card, even after latest updates from Nvidia, and goes to black screen all the time.

Like I was saying if you read my hole message, they have already come out with like 4 or 5 different windows 10 versions now. 1507, 1511, 1803, 1809 and usually the Bios, and software will not go over 4 builds, even if Bios is updated. Not sure what model your ROG is or what version of windows it came with, but ROG models are usually different, they have completely different main boards in them.
