| Earlier this week, Intel unintentionally released version 9.21.00.3755 of the Intel Smart Sound Technology (ISST) Driver through Windows Update, and inadvertently offered it to a range of devices running Window 10 version 1803 or 1809. If your device contained<br> a compatible audio driver, the new driver overrode it and caused audio to stop working.<br><br><br><br><br><br>We are working with Intel to resolve this issue, and as soon as we learned of the issue on October 11, we made sure the driver was no longer being offered through Windows Update. If it was already installed on your device, you will need to uninstall the<br> driver using the following instructions.<br><br> <br><br> <br><br><ol><br><li><span style="color:#333333">From the Start menu, type <strong>Device Manager </strong><br>in the search box. Usually you can find the Device manager, you can do this by open the Start Menu and type Device manager. It will be right there.
If there is no devices to be found, please go to View > View hidden Devices.
in case you are using HP devices, Please use the Support Assistant app to scan for missing drivers.
Dear Patty,
May I know if you are using an HP Device? If yes, it could be the Realtek Audio Driver is causing the issue also. You can make sure to uninstall the Drivers for RealtekAudio and Intel SST Driver from the Device Manager and then use the Support Assist app to install the new drivers from HP.

Nothing is working - Still the same. not sure how to roll back the driver as somebody stated
"PattyPorenta Hansen" uninstall your audio driver completely from 'Device Manager' (as described above) e.g. Realtek HD Audio or whatever your audio driver is, then reboot your computer, this should roll the driver back to a generic driver that works, test your audio, if it does not work, go to 'your comp manufacturers' support and select drivers, download the last audio driver that they have for your comp.
"N2uBP" unfortunately people do not know/do what you have done and just like to whinge and complain, the audio issues is a driver incompatibility/update issue and as you have 'pointed out' people have to source the appropriate rollbacks and/or updates, that's all it takes but and as its so unfortunate, many people don't have the experience and/or knowledge of troubleshooting these sorts of problems, hence, this is where the problem lays!
