Windows 10, Version 1809. Network does not show computers

In Win10, v 1809 I go to "Network" in file explorer and no computers are showing - neither my computer nor other computers on the network.

I was able to find the ip address of the computer I was searching for and successfully ping it via command prompt.

Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Just wanted to add that I have the same problem as fg2001.

    On my side the problem seems to have started the moment I renamed the computer to something else than the default and annoying desktop-xyz.

    Also, no wifi card on this computer. Only an "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (7) I219-V

    What is your current level of Windows 10 ?

    The workaround for the problem is different depending on the level of windows.

    On my machines when they are all at 1903, the problem is intermittent only on one, but the workaround of restarting the service Function Discovery Resource Publication suggested earlier in this thread by Plarini still works, there is another suggestion by Galileo that adds FDResPub to task scheduler to stop and restart the service triggered at system startup.

    Start a program     cmd /c net stop FDResPub && net start FDResPub

    I have a similar problem with Version 1903. One machine does not show on the FS Network display. Resetting Function Discovery Resource Publication makes it visible but only until a restart. The default setting is Manual(triggered) changing this to  Automatic has no effect ie you stilll need to reset it manually.

    I don't lnow if it is significant but the invisible machine is wired, other machines are on WiFi.
