Remove the device. Open Command Prompt as admin.
Run this command :
reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\AVRCP\CT /v DisableAbsoluteVolume /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
Add the device again and now you can play.

Windows 10 PC will no longer connect to my LG Soundbar via bluetooth. They pair okay, but the LG speaker does not show up in the list of available speaker output devices.
I have tried removing the LG bluetooth device and then reconnecting to it, but it made no difference.
Other audio source devices, eg, ipod, connect, and work correctly with the LG soundbar via Bluetooth.
Has something changed in Windows that is now stopping this connection working? It stopped working about 3 months ago I think.
Any ideas

Worked for me on 2 Windows 10 laptops and an LG Micro (2010!). Had to reboot after the registry edit and had to reset advnaced sound properties in Windows Sounds on one of them (It would play Youtube ads through Bluletooth but the videos would revert to Windows speakers. All working fine now

I found the solution for my LG HTS here thanks to the user who shared it at the end of the link.

follow the instructions here to disable the absolute volume function for headphones in the registry.

So, I had the same issue with LG SJ9. I read all the comments here and what worked for me was to connect the soundbar to the wifi and update its firmware using the music flow app on my phone. worked like a charm. Thanks!

I believe this to be a problem caused entirely by windows 10, microsoft updates.
I created a virtual machine using virtualbox. I created instances from builds 1709. 1803 and 1809.
All three builds could pair with the soundbar and would show as connected in bluetooth settings. Only build 1709 would pass sound to the soundbar. In build 1709 under playback devices it would show as connected and you could select it as a playback device, on the other two builds it wouldn't show as connected and you couldn't select it.
The same problem is seen in my actual windows, with the latest updates available, installation, windows will show the soundbar as connected in bluetooth settings, but not connected in playback devices, and you will be unable to select the soundbar as a playback device.
It's been over a year since windows build 1803 was released, so it seems that this bug is a year old. What gives Microsoft?
If I install version 1709 due to automatic updates being enabled by default and difficult to stop, i'll end up with you, Microsoft, updating my installation to the newly released buggy code.
I think I have been pushed over the edge. Time to try a new operating system.
