Epson scanner will not work with latest windows 10 update

Thanks for your reply, my Epson is not part of my computer, it is a flatbed scanner, that I mainly do copies of photos on, but I might delete it from computer and start again.

I got fed up and deleted all my Epson software and removed my printer a month ago. After I saw your post, I got renewed hope for my XP-820 to print again from my computer.

I downloaded and installed "Driver and Utilities Combo Package Installer, XP820_Lite_NA.exe", dated 7/2019 (I never found that before...). 

It's WORKING!!! Yay!

The first thing to try is to right click the Epson scan icon, and select to run as administrator. This works for some people.

If that fails the second thing to try is to uninstall and reinstall all your Epson scanner software. Make sure Windows is completely up to date. Switch off the printer/scanner and uninstall the driver. In control panel/printers and scanners/ right click the scanner and select delete. Download the latest driver from the Epson website for your country. During the install you will be prompted to turn on the scanner/printer.

If that fails there is a registry hack you can try. But hopefully you can avoid that.

• I am sorry to say that I worked over 1 month with Microsoft to find a solution and found that my system could not do the update to vr 19xx.

I even bought a new computer and that turned into a fiasco, I finally did a RESET since MS had no solution short of bring the computer in for a hardware analysis and the RESET wiped my OS and crippled my backup OS not to mention seemingly rendered at least one of my Windows 10 licenses invalid.

So with NO restore points, damaged images I did manage to recover my OS to version build 16290, and currently am not in the mood yet to make another go at it.

The printer STILL does work under windows xp on a 1990 computer, but thusfar only prints which keeps my business alive.  IF I ever recover to 1803 it seems that I have a solution now, so thank you.  The scanner still had issues on my NEW computer vr 1909 or higher but I returned that machine for various other reasons including this one.

Needless to say Epson is no longer my exclusive place to go for printers, I am sad about that but what can be done.

I bought a used computer that uses windows 7 and my epson v700 scanner works perfectly.

Yes. The old EPSON software is compatible with old operating systems and with Win 10 prior to the 1803 MS update.
