Epson scanner will not work with latest windows 10 update

My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

    I am also on Win10 1803. I got an Epson V600. I just go to Epson & download the driver, install & after restart it works. No hassle. You should just uninstall the scanner driver & reinstall again. It should work

    I have similar problem started just recently.

    Epson WF-2660 (not especially old!)

    Epson Scan, when run, appears on task bar but never opens a proper dialog window.

    It can sometimes be closed by right click "Close window" but takes at least two attempts and then the windows "trying to solve.." dialog needs to be clicked away.

    About a quarter the time it can't be closed and hangs THE WHOLE OF WINDOWS (10) which shouldn't even be possible these days! Then it takes a 12 second button press to stop the machine.

    Tried uninstalling all Epson programs and drivers, re-installed from scratch and still no change.

    Tried "compatibility mode" but no improvement there. 

    Tried running as Admin but no difference.

    It seems to be completely broken.

    My Dell scanner also stopped working since the 5-20-18 Windows 10 update. So, the problem is with the Windows driver.

    I noticed that the driver file usbscan.sys was changed on 5-20-18.

    Could Microsoft please rollback this single file or provide a download link to the original file?

    David, the next step to try is to run Epson Scan as administrator. It doesn't work for everyone, but it has completely solved the problem for me and Epson Scan now runs normally. Right click Epson Scan/run as administrator.  Or to do so permanently without requiring the right click every time, right click/properties/shortcut/advanced/run as administrator/OK.

    By the way, if Epson scan ever does freeze, use task manager to close Epson scan, turn off the scanner,  turn off the power of the scanner from the wall or unplug at the back. After a few seconds turn on the scanner again and after it has initialised relaunch Epson scan. This way you can avoid a reboot. I have not had any more crashes with Epson Scan since running as administrator.
