My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

I've been watching this issue for a while. I admit that I don't always read the responses, so I may need to follow the threads. Honestly , I picked yours at random thinking that  you may  see something with my experience.

I had  a problem with my Epson 750 under windows 7 enterprise after a Windows update.  I'd need to dig through emails  to see if I logged it.  My guess was that it was the registry.  My PC would not recognize the scanner at all.

I initially installed the scanner Feb 2007 under Windows XP.  I installed the scanner on it's current home  under win 7 enterprise in September 2009. Sometime around July- August 2018 I started having issues after an update.

    Removing the update didn't help.

    Epson didn't help.

reinstalling the Epson software didn't help.

Running all the scans against windows 7 didn't help.

There was also a third party software ( I think it was vuescan)  that I tried and it didn't work either.   Their tech support said that it didn't rely on the Epson drivers.

At that point, my last option was to reinstall the OS, so if I had to reinstall I figured I might as well install Windows 10 since the scanner worked on my laptop with windows 10.

It's been working since Sept 2018 under windows 10.

It is currently  running under Win 10 Pro 1909 with all current updates.

I got up to the windows 10 part, the first upgrade to windows 10 was a charm, I was finally on a definate positive outlook on windows and said all my pateince through the rouch years like win 3.0, 95. 8, vista were never to be seen again.

The last windows update to the 1909 build wrecked my system and crippled everything and it all began with a request fto microsoft to fix this NEW epson workforce printer.

In any case I have 2 clients who also say they have no problems, they upgraded to the new 1909 build and both excel 2003 and epson works, me I am and still crippled since November 2019, and really can't find any other OS that WON'T Big brother me, still don't know what direction I can go aside from UNIX, but I am too old now to write my own drivers and find sub-standard PD software to take the place of 35 years of MS programs

Thanks for sharing your experience. Actually its the opposite of what most people have experienced. Epson Scan generally worked well under Windows 7 but later editions of Win 10 caused many problems.

    Kind regards

I always keep a system backup in case something unexpected happens. Windows restore never seems to work when you really need it. I use the free version of Aomei backupper. I have found that Windows 10 tends to be unstable and several times I have resolved a problem by doing an upgrade install which keeps all your files, settings and programmes intact.

I hope you can get your Epson software working again.

Yes the only reason i am still able to work is that i restored from a february 2018 backup, of course that build of windows i am told is no longer supported and NOW crippled ! ! ! -  ALL solutions are update to version build 000.19 which cripples a key conponent of the business.   Isn't that nice MS drops win 8 support and win 10 according to builds they don't like.....  I am serious!
