Epson scanner will not work with latest windows 10 update

My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

    Tim, here is a checklist of various things you can try.

    1- Make sure you have the latest Win 10 updates after the 1806 update. Later updates may help with this issue.

    2- Uninstall the Epson driver you have and reinstall the latest ones from the Epson Website that are suitable for Win 10. If there isn't one for Win 10 then try the nearest one (eg Win 8) If your software has an update driver feature that may help as well.

    3- When launching Epson scan right click and select run as administrator. 

    4- You could also try running Epson scan in Win 7 or Win 8 compatibility mode. If that fails, switch it back to Win 10 mode. 

    4- Try the fix suggested by jonno_123, this involves a registry hack

    If all else fails, you will probably still be able to use your scanner using the native Windows WIA feature. Its very limited but it should work.  You can also try the Vuescan scanner driver ($).

    Thanks for the response, but it didn't help. Not being overly computer savy, I got help from Dell who got on a joint call with Epson. They couldn't get it to work. Then I contacted Microsoft whose only suggestion was to have Epson send me a new scanner.

    My scanner is the V550, and my Windows 10 PC recently "enjoyed" the 1803 update.  (I had deferred it for quite a while).

    I started to encounter the same problem as others - Epson Scan hanging after one scan, and a flickering dialog displayed offscreen behind the Start Menu.

    I implemented the suggestion to run Epson Scan as Administrator and that seems to solve the problem for now. Thanks.

    Similar problem but older scanner. Just purchased a new Dell. Mine is an Epson V500 Perfection series. When the Epson web site scans my pc - it gives a recommended driver and Epson Event Manager package. The Dell people and Epson were on line with me at the same time. Epson insisted it was the MS operating system and there driver was correct. Then Microsoft was called. The tech said there system has no problem and I needed to tell Epson to send me a new scanner. 

    The driver package they all recommend was published July 22, 2010, a few year before Windows 10. Doesn't seem logical to me but I still have no working scanner. And have paid for support help, with the last suggestion that the scanner is too old. Is it time to give up on a perfectly functioning scanner on my old pc>
