My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

I have been using the Epson software under 1803 with the hack where it operates with administrative privileges mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, this hack failed under the version of 1809 that was downloaded this week by Update.
After spending several hours tweaking and reinstalling software, I gave up and restored 1803. Fortunately, everything worked again and now I am blocking any "feature" updates. I am very disappointed since I have lost several very good USB scanners (HP, etc.) with migrations from XP. There seems to be an unfortunate problem since some of the slide scanners just aren't being made anymore. Like several other users have mentioned, the alternative software options also miss critical photo adjustment features.
I did this and it did NOT work.
I have spent many hours trying to get Epson's ancient scanning software to work properly.
Does the word "ancient" provide a clue as to what the problem might be?
I kept my windows 7 laptop that wouldn't function with my high end HP Scanjet. That's in my closet too.
