Epson scanner will not work with latest windows 10 update

I couldn’t agree with  you mote. My rpson v750 is 12 year old and works great. Aftern my experience in 2018 ( under win 7) I check my devices after ever major update  and at a minimum ever few months. We shouldn’t have to do that. I have my desktop do  an additonal image backup weekly just in case.  I also clone the drive just so that i have a secondary boot drive. Again, we shouldnt have to do that. Windows has had its ups and downs. The epson problem As i said was on win 7(knock on wood)  iI havent  had issues with win  10. My laptop has been stable since the beginning

 I've been watching this issue for a while. I admit that I don't always read the responses, so I may need to follow the threads. Honestly , I picked yours at random thinking that  you may  see something with my experience.

I had  a problem with my Epson 750 under windows 7 enterprise after a Windows update.  I'd need to dig through emails  to see if I logged it.  My guess was that it was the registry.  My PC would not recognize the scanner at all.

I initially installed the scanner Feb 2007 under Windows XP.  I installed the scanner on it's current home  under win 7 enterprise in September 2009. Sometime around July- August 2018 I started having issues after an update.

Removing the update didn't help. 

Epson didn't help. 

reinstalling the Epson software didn't help.

Running all the scans against windows 7 didn't help.

There was also a third party software ( I think it was vuescan)  that I tried and it didn't work either.   Their tech support said that it didn't rely on the Epson drivers.

At that point, my last option was to reinstall the OS, so if I had to reinstall I figured I might as well install Windows 10 since the scanner worked on my laptop with windows 10.

It's been working since Sept 2018 under windows 10. 

It is currently  running under Win 10 Pro 1909 with all current updates.

I got up to the windows 10 part, the first upgrade to windows 10 was a charm, I was finally on a definate positive outlook on windows and said all my pateince through the rouch years like win 3.0, 95. 8, vista were never to be seen again.

The last windows update to the 1909 build wrecked my system and crippled everything and it all began with a request fto microsoft to fix this NEW epson workforce printer.  

In any case I have 2 clients who also say they have no problems, they upgraded to the new 1909 build and both excel 2003 and epson works, me I am and still crippled since November 2019, and really can't find any other OS that WON'T Big brother me, still don't know what direction I can go aside from UNIX, but I am too old now to write my own drivers and find sub-standard PD software to take the place of 35 years of MS programs

Thought I'd add my 2 cents,, these problems are aggravating, and hopefully someday our global high tech work fforce will start working together.......My Epson Workforce 635, yeah I know it's old, but it  still works great, started acting weird over the past few weeks.    The beginning of April I noticed  the "Check Ink Levels" indicators were all greyed out when I went to print.  The printer was still working both on my wired and wireless networks.  A couple days ago I had to scan a document, and I got "No communication with scanning device".   I tried reloading the drivers from the Epson site, and when doing so the printer would only work on my wireless network, wouldn't scan, and would not set up on my ethernet network "mask conflict".   I then tried a direct USB connection, and could then print from my PC, the wireless function worked, but scanner didn't.  So.....I used an AOMEI image I took on 3/10/20, brought my OS back in time, and the Epson 635 works perfectly.  For now I'm shutting my WIN 10 Update services off until hopefully Microsoft comes up with a solution.

I use Norton Ghost 2015, it came from powerquest backup (Forgot its full name), which came from fastback a 1985 program, all were crippled or dropped by the Windows OS -- so I went with Windows system image and restore points.

I discovered again the hard way that MS can WIPE out all restore points when they FORCE an update through and they've started that game again lately.  The updates FAIL all teh time twice this week alone and leave the system in an ustable state WITHOUT anyway to go back to a previous state.

I have weekly and bi-weekly restore points and as you can see they wiped my recovery path AGAIN Only yesterday which means a 30 -45 boot up, installation failed message and a return to most likely a more corrupt version

Point of story - DON'T MS for help or they basically will own you, or at least that seems to be my case now running on my 02/15/18 version of win 10, and the 2020 version does not restore! all the ones in march are GONE

OH I BEVER did DOS 2.0 but did Apple IIe, then Amiga and also build a CPM and used an MS fortran compiler into my apple which was a z80.  to old for that sh*# now.

Ever here of 4dos, I loved that program, 4dos and xywrite with desQview I recall desqview shamed Bill in rutgers in the early years though bill ripped topview IBM's Multi-tasker

We have about the same number of years behind us in IT. After Development, I stuck to IT management.  I started in late 70s. When we started using PCs our first systems were MSDOS 2.0.  Later we had one Toshiba luggable that was running windows 2.0.  We had a CFO that liked Macs  so back then I didn't have the power to resist. As we grew things changed.

It  must just be the systems.  I have a Lenovo Yoga S1 Thinkpad and a Desktop with an ASUS MOB that I built in 2009. With the windows 10 upgrade  the laptops went fine, the Desktop I had to replace the video card and Bluetooth. I also had to find comparable drivers (IOBit driver booster found all my needed drivers for a 10 year old MOB.  I was pleasantly surprised.) Both systems are working fine under 1909. In fact I purchased the Lenovo in 2014 win 8.1 and upgraded  to win 10 as soon as it was available. In all my years this the system I've had the least problems with.  (except for that glass of water)

I'm using Office 2010 , PS CS6 and CS4 creative suite, they all seem to work fine. 

Great, now that I've  said that , I'm looking forward to some problems.

I use EaseUS  TODO backup workstation. I've only used it a few times for a full restore over the years and there tech support is responsive.  

I'm not sure what to tell you about the printer except that I'd check back with Epson now and then.

I'm retired and everything is working.  I hope nothing fails in the near future. I don;t need anything new to break.
