Epson scanner will not work with latest windows 10 update

My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

    My similar problem was solved by setting the app to only run with user as administrator. Right click on the Epson Scan desktop icon, then click "Properties", then click "Compatibility", the check the box for "Run this program as an administrator" which is at the bottom of the choices. Then click Apply.

    I did a combination of the two responses including a reinstall of the latest Epson software (its a little old) and giving the scanning program administrator privileges.  Everything now works (well sort of if you don't consider the prompt asking for admin privileges).

    This is similar to what I did under the last major release, but it seems like the details change a little with each release.  Of course, my preference is not to have Microsoft uninstall the Epson scanner and another older program with each major feature release.

    Maybe related to this problem as well: after a certain Windows Update I could not use the Scan tool if I was not administrator (the problem did NOT appear on my wife's Computer - strange). This was inherently uncool as I usually use the scanner with an OCR Software (which then also did not work)

    In the end what seems to have solved the issue:

    • give Administrator permissions to my user
    • reinstall drivers (drivers were already installed, just execute the installer EXEs again)
    • make the user a normal user again
    • restart

    BTW: Installing the drivers as my main admin user instead of "my" user did NOT solve the issue. Seems like I had to install them as my user which was admin at the time of Installation.

    After the 1809 update Epson scan could not communicate with my Epson V700. I uninstalled the scanner drivers and reinstalled and that solved the problem. I still run Epson scan as administrator. Curiously, Internet explorer 11 would not launch after the 1809 update.  I had to run that as administrator to get it to work.
