My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

Did you try running Epson Scan as administrator? (right click/run as administrator) It works for some. Another thing you might try is not to click outside the Epson scan window until you finish all  your scans.

PS the other option is to revert to the previous version of Windows if you are still able to do that.

Tried running as admin - no go. Not clicking outside the Scan window is not really a good option, although initially that was something I had to do to prevent crashing. Reverting to previous Win 10 is also not something I wish to do. The main problem (apart from crashing) was the disappearance of the preview window, i.e. preventing me from changing the scan area to what I wanted for different sizes of photos. The auto sizing would not do the job for me because some photos were glued on pages and individual framing was required. The preview would (normally) make this a much quicker job than scanning and editing afterwards.

As I mentioned in my post on 8th June, Epson have admitted that their scan software does not work properly with W 10 version 1803,

As I thought. My Epson scanner (XP410 printer) started non-cooperation soon after the Win 10 1803 update and I thought "here we go again - curse MS/Epson" - I tried uninstall, reinstall, updating drivers and all manner of the usual troubleshooting, etc. to no avail. The main symptoms being that the preview window disappeared off-screen and would not return, the Scan app would lock up the computer for up to ten seconds with half a second release time. I tried the Win 10 inbuilt scanner and that is less customisable than the Epson Scan (which I prefer).

That was a couple of weeks ago. I now have a pile of photos to scan, so had another go at using the scanner - still the same...

On another forum I read that trying Win XP (3) compatibility might help. I tried that and coupled with some help from the compatibility troubleshooter, all seems to work ok, although I hold my breath on that.

I think I may have found what has been causing my problems.

I remember now that I installed one of the extra utility programs Epsom offer in "Software updater"

It was the one called "Epson Web print" and I found it useful because it lets you select any rectangle on a web page and clip/print it.

It was soon after that that scanning stopped working.

So i had uninstalled everything with Epson in the name, drivers and printers, and re-installed from scratch with latest SW from Epson.com

    Then everything worked fine.

Today I had use of the web print utility so I installed "Epson Web print" again

Now the Epson Scan program doesn't start.

I guess I'll have to re-install everything again... this time I won't install Epson Web print at all.

Epson WorkForce 845 has been a wash.

Tried uninstall and reinstall and now nothing works. It keeps telling me that it can't communicate with the printer. DHCP says it can't find it and when I enter the IP directly, still can't. Don't have an ethernet long enough and not enough room with collocate everything (and don't really want to rearrange my office workspace for this). Oddly, it's not will all of the PCs even though they all got the Windows update. Just the two Dells. The Toshiba and the off-brand desktop still work fine.
