how to fix Sihost.exe-systems warning hard error not known windows 10

This is correct:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth 

From what i see it needs the exe function doesn’t it? It needs something like dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Is it possible that since it is showing up as Windows PE and not 10 that the fix is different coding? It doesnt like the /Online

ok, i had the same problem like you guys but i found a work around. i manage to keep all my file and program in this way. 

my hypothesis is that the update did not go smoothly due to personal customisation from the user. This causes a problem with the update and thus resulted to boot loop, desktop unavailable ,black screen , sihost.exe and other errors in this recent update. i been digging around this forum and found no solution that might help our situation. So i when to reddit to find a cure and found it. however you might need access to internet connection on another pc and a usb drive with at least 8gb.

1. Download and prepare a bootable windows media creation tool ver1803 from the windows website
2. Boot into windows and DONT clicking 'ok' to the sihost.exe system warning
3. This somehow enable the explorer.exe to work. Plug the usb in and start the setup.
4. Run the Media Creation Tool (1803) and it will detect updates are available.
5. Follow and run as prompted
6. Wait with patients (Important**)
7. it will then update the windows properly this time.

if you get c:\windows\system.....\desktop error instead, you explorer.exe is likely not working. Press the windows key + R to run the media tool via the run program.

if it fail the first time , try again. it failed on me twice before i get it to work.

i am no expert in windows or anything and my hypothesis is just a guess and nothing more.so dont take my word for it.

please be kind to spread this to people that is in our situation if it solve your problem.

Try preparing a bootable usb with media tool(1803) on it and try to follow my guide some where in page 2 in this post.  if you dont click ok you could probably access explore.exe using win+E  press. but in case you couldn't open up task manager.

• you should be able to open task manager in the black screen with mouse.
• go under the user tab in task manager and right click on you user
• click manage user , this would open up the user accounts
• click the up arrow beside the address bar till you can access you pc/ or usb
• use the media tool from you usb to update your windows.

So it looks like the new update caused a partition issue and gave you an X drive. What you need to do is go cd c:\ to get to the C drive and rerun the following

sfc /scannow

Then run

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

That should work. Remember to run it in the C drive not the X drive
