Bluetooth volume broken after Windows 10 1803 update

I have a Samsung DA-E670 bluetooth(BT) speaker that I use as my main speakers connected via BT. After the Windows 10 version 1803 update recently, I can no longer adjust the volume of these speakers from the master mixer in the taskbar.

The slider moves but the volume doesn't change unless it's slid to the minimum then it mutes.

The same issue happens on my laptop after this 1803 update.

However, on my new Sennheiser headphones the behaviour has changed differently. Adjusting the volume on the headphones built-in volume control, changes the Windows main mixer volume. I can learn to adjust to this change but I would need to be able to control the volume of my Samsung speakers via Windows like before.

My research points to something about a mismatch of Bluetooth profiles. Has anyone had this issue and if so, are there any work arounds or fixes?

Also, I have been in touch with Microsoft support chat a bunch of times (5 or 6 times) and they have tried everything from;

BT troubleshooter

Re-installing drivers

Updating drivers

Installing bad drivers, breaking the BT

some weird registry and other actions I don't know the details about

Hello guys, 

I also have a problem with my Edifier R2730DB, however I solved the problem by changing a value from 0 to 1 in the registry. 

Follow the steps from this post:

"You should try this fix It worked to me:

  1. Open Windows Registry (regedit.exe).
  2. Jump to  Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\AVRCP\CT
  3. Create  REG_DWORD  DisableAbsoluteVolume and set it's value to  1.

Important: You need to restart your PC for changes to take affect.

    Hi Conandrum 

    Thank you for posting your solution. 

    These drivers seem to fix the horrendous audio/video sync issues I was having with the compatibility drivers Microsoft got me to install. 

    So now I can control my Samsung speaker that were having the volume control issues described in this thread at the lose of universal volume control support for my other BT headphones. 

    However, this is still not resolved. I still cannot change BT device without restarting the computer. I cannot disconnect then reconnect a device. The settings show the device disconnecting continuously. Also, when starting the computer with no devices connected, the BT settings shows them ALL connected, in error. 

    I am still on 1803, hopefully 1809 has some solutions to this mess. And I hope this messing around with custom drivers doesn't prevent a new OS build from overwriting the drivers.

    NOW it is dezember, and the stupid 1803 still cannot work with the bt volume issue.

    Microsoft seems to give a **** about a working solution and force me all time to roll back to 1709.

    Works absolutely NOT on a microsoft designed hardware labeled "Surface Pro 3" and still not work on ASUS Laptop with Intel BT.

    Really not a consumer job to search for solution when 1803 brings up the problem.

    F***** forcing updates annoy my time.

    In other language support sites, the threads about this issue are not solved - but closed so nobody can make a comment about...

    really - no solution, MS?

    (starting to roll back again and again...)

    @DarkMystify. Exactly still they haven't fixed this issue. Shame on microsoft developers. 

    These are the reasons why people prefer macbook. If it wasnt for gaming I would have never cared to use pc.
