Thank you for the detailed information. I know that this would feel farfetched but let's try one last thing. This time, let's look for the driver using the Bluetooth's hardware ID and install it with the compatibility troubleshooter. To do this, follow these
steps:
- Device Manager, click Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth device and select
Properties.
- On the Details tab, click the drop-down menu under Property and select
Hardware Ids.
- Under the Value space, look for the item that has the longest as that's usually the hardware ID of the device.
Right-click and select Copy.
- Paste the hardware ID using any search engines you want to use and look for its drivers. I usually use this format when searching "driver for
<hardwareID>. "
- After getting driver, uninstall the current Bluetooth driver*.*
- Then, follow Andre Da Costa's instructions on this article under
Using Compatibility Mode to Resolve Driver problems.
After installing the driver in compatibility mode, see if the issue gets resolved.

The volume now works but new problems have been introduced.
So this is what I did:
The Bluetooth device has two devices for it. In my case;
[Samsung] W_Audio E5290D
[Samsung] W_Audio E5290D Avrcp Transport Adapter
Googling the first device Hardware ID brought back no results only two dodgy looking ads that wanted me to install a driver installing program. So I had to leave that one.
For the second one (Avrcp ... ) I found a driver from 'Driver Pack Solution'.
I uninstalled both drivers and installed the one I had with compatibility mode with the below options;
>Troubleshoot program
> What problems do you notice? I picked 2 boxes 'Program worked in earlier version ...' and 'I don't see my problem listed'
> Which version of Windows did it work? I picked 'Windows 7'
> Test Program
> Installed both drivers back and volume starts working immediately
> Next to save changes
While the volume is now working for the Samsung speakers, new problems have been introduced listed below:
- Unable to disconnect/reconnect any Bluetooth device, pressing the disconnect button causes the device to disconnect but windows shows it "couldn't disconnect", then reopening the dialog window shows all devices connected even when the Bluetooth device
is physically powered down. No way to connect again without PC restart. Windows says two Bluetooth devices connected when only one or none are powered on and connected but two devices are paired.
- Turning Bluetooth OFF causes immediate BSOD; (Stop Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) What failed? bthport.sys. This used to happen before on the old drivers but I feel it's happening more now. I would maybe create a different thread for this alone.
- Other Bluetooth devices like my PXC550 do not act like behaviour case 2 anymore. They act like behaviour case 1 (see previous post of mine)
This works as a temporary 'work-around' so long as I have no need to change connected Bluetooth device or have to turn off Bluetooth from windows. The ideal situation would be how Google solved it. Independent volume controls for speakers like my Samsung
(Behaviour case 1) and unified volume like my PXC550 is capable off (behaviour case 2).
I've lost the ability to connect to my PXC550 headphones without, powering down the Samsung > restarting the PC > powering up PXC550. I used to be able to do this in real time by disconnecting one or connecting the other.
