I'm having the same problem with viewing the fonts in my system. However, to get mine to work with my programs (photoshop etc), when I download a font I make sure it's not in a zip folder, then right click on the font and select install for all users.
"Installed" fonts not showing up in Windows Fonts folder
Hi guys,
Unfortunately, none of the previous answers solves my problem.
I try to install fonts. According to Windows that also works but I cannot see the installed fonts in the Windows Fonts folder and neither do they show up in Illustrator.
When I copy a font file into the Windows Fonts folder it says "The "xxxxxx" font is already installed. Do you want to replace it?" - I click yes, but still - the font does not show.
It's not a problem of the font file as it was working previously. Same happens to hundreds of other fonts. Says they are installed but they don't show and they are not selectable in other applications.
Thanks for your help!

2020-04-06T10:21:08+00:00 I have removed MS Office from my desktop, did a CCleaner and installed a free office suite Softmaker Office which is 100% compatible and have more options, it is also not bloated with stuff you'll never going to use. All is now well, all fonts are back and the sample text in the other applications is OK, no more square boxes and Cyrillic scripts - and I think this is the issue. Microsoft just don't care as long as you pay - they know some of us cannot break away and pirate their stuff anymore. The same with Adobe. There are alternatives. Sorry if you are in a corporate design environment - you're stuck.
Anyone interested in Office 2007? I still have an original and a few keys available :)

2020-04-04T19:29:10+00:00 I'm a design - who had the same issues.
I installed Avenir (which I had on other machines) onto a new PC, but it never showed up on any Adobe package.
I followed most of the steps suggested.
The solution that worked for me is: Right click on the font and select the Install for all users. All other install features, for some reason didn't work, but this instantly did.
Hope it helps.
