"Installed" fonts not showing up in Windows Fonts folder

Hi guys,

Unfortunately, none of the previous answers solves my problem.

I try to install fonts. According to Windows that also works but I cannot see the installed fonts in the Windows Fonts folder and neither do they show up in Illustrator.

When I copy a font file into the Windows Fonts folder it says "The "xxxxxx" font is already installed. Do you want to replace it?" - I click yes, but still - the font does not show.

It's not a problem of the font file as it was working previously. Same happens to hundreds of other fonts. Says they are installed but they don't show and they are not selectable in other applications.

Thanks for your help!

Not sure if this was solved yet... but just had same problem. I managed to fix it by installing a file search tool (Everything by Void Tools) and searching for "FontName .ttf". There's a space between the name and the extension (it pattern matches).

There was an additional ttf installed that had the typeface name followed by a "_0" (or was it an _1 ?). It's as if windows had installed two copies of the font. It was in C:/Users/Username/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Fonts".

It gave me the 'in use by system' warning, but a reboot allowed me to delete it. For good measure I also searched the registry for the font file name and removed any entries. After this the font was removed properly and when I reinstalled the font again it showed up properly.

I’ve been having a similar problem as well. I’m just throwing in the info that I found on other forums, but it looks like it’s a problem with the font family name. I downloaded font forge and tried to mess around with it but still couldn’t get it to work but I think that’s where the issue is.  Atleast for me. Hope thats helpful and if someone has a guide to naming font families feel free to share it!

Same here, I install a font, Windows says it was installed, I try to look for it in /c/windows/fonts and it does not exist. I try to install it again (or copy and paste the file into the folder) and Windows says "Already installed".

I'm on a Windows 10 work computer that I have admin rights for (since I can install software just fine), wondering if any other people are at work when this is happening?

I also have the same issue, upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 today and all my fonts are missing and when I try to install them to use in Illustrator for instance they won't show up - it seems like no TrueType font shows up when I install it. Really need help with this!
