Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

While I realize this isn't exactly a helpful response, it seems the issue just went away for me. OneDrive randomly came back and has been working for a few days now. I'm on build 18.116.0610.0002 and Windows 10 1803 build 17134.112. Windows update hasn't had anything useful in a month or so other than updates for Windows Defender definitions, so that isn't it. I'm not sure if it's a permanent thing, but just wanted to let people know that Microsoft may have finally fixed the issue. Not sure though.

Same issue on all my Windows 10 computers. Based on all of the posts, "downloading OneDrive again" doesn't resolve the issue. Microsoft needs to fix this obviously. No re-do's - we need a solution.

If anyone wants to be a guinea pig, there's a new version of OneDrive rolling out (18.111.0603.0004) in production ring. Visit this page for the download: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/new-onedrive-sync-client-release-notes-845dcf18-f921-435e-bf28-4e24b95e5fc0

Good luck! Report back any successes. I'll do the same.

I just got my laptop back from repair (hardware issue, but HD was wiped and started fresh).  I set up OneDrive, and of course it disappeared again (like everyone else has reported).  I completely uninstalled OneDrive (using control panels, uninstall program).  I then downloaded the production ring version (18.111.0603.0004).  It has been stable for 2 days.

I did go to the folder noted in the header of this discussion thread and made a backup copy of OneDrive.exe (called OneDrive.exe Copy) just in case.

    Will keep you all posted.
