Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

AceGJ -- My recommendation is to uninstall the version that you have currently and download the newer version:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/new-onedrive-sync-client-release-notes-845dcf18-f921-435e-bf28-4e24b95e5fc0.  It looks like there is a newer version (Production Ring: 18.091.0506.0007).

I did this and it was working very well (though a week ago I needed to send my laptop in for a hardware repair so can't speak to whether there are current issues.

Go to control panel and "remove program".  Select OneDrive and uninstall this first BEFORE trying to download the new version.

I am running version 18.091.506.0007 and onedrive.exe is still deleted every 24-48 hrs. I've instituted a workaround until MS fixes this. I've created a backup subdirectory just to hold a copy of onedrive.exe in appdata/local/microsoft/onedrive and pinned it to quick access. Whenever I see the onedrive icon missing on the quick launch bar, I grab a backup copy from quick access and place it into its proper directory, double click to launch, and it's good to go until deleted again.
