Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.  

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

    Hi,

    My last update was 18.135.0705.0003 on 26 July. and didn't cause an issue for me. I have the MalwareBytes exclusion in place for %localappdata%\microsoft\onedrive.

    I'm leaving the exclusion in place until I've seen another update without issue, then I'll be removing the exclusion to see if the problem comes back with the next OneDrive update.

    Last update 8/09/2018, 18.131.701.7.. MalwareBytes has been runnning without exclusion. So far, no hiccups!

    Folks,

    As I think most folks have noticed by now, the latest OneDrive update pushes from Microsoft have NOT been blocked by MalwareBytes Premium :-).

    From the support ticket# upload of my logfiles, it seems that the folks at MalwareBytes were able to make a change on their end to fix the problem.  MalwareBytes support has been asking me for confirmation that their fix works, and I've told them so far so good.

    Is anybody still having problems?

    Hi CC Hogan,

    See my last post - the problem was fixed on the MalwareBytes end of things.  The folks at MalwareBytes didn't tell me who actually broke it ;-)

    As mentioned, I also chose not to add OneDrive exclusions into MalwareBytes.

    I still have the problem. The push of 18.151.0729.0005 on 8-22-2018 caused the OneDrive app to not load. I had to run OneDriveSetup.exe to get it back. I DO have the exclusion in Malwarebytes; so that did not help. Probably not a Malwarebyte issue; at least not in my case.

    Same problem with 18.151.0729.0006 on 8-28-2018.
