Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

You do not need to delete anything. This is what I am doing to make this as painless as possible. Saves me a ton of extra steps.

First, make a Shortcut of your one drive folder on your desktop. Whenever the onedrive stops working, just double click your shortcut you made, double-click whichever folder is the newest build and run the application- file named OneDriveSetup. You do not need to delete anything. This will update your onedrive within less than 30 seconds-60 seconds and once you are done, it will be working just like before.

    Good luck!

Then go into your user profile.

Onedrive (Right mouse click this folder, click send to and click desktop.)

As previously posted, I've been stable since 6/25 (well, 6/23 actually).. Strongly recommend: uninstall, run a registry cleaner, reboot, then run the standalone install. In that order. I'm convinced there's a registry key involved. As I said, mine's been stable for a few weeks now. Have undergone updates KB4343669 and last night (7/11/18) KB338819.. So far, Onedrive is purring along happily so I believe I've found the solution.

Can I ask you to explain what a "registry cleaner" is?  Can you also let me know what version of OneDrive you installed and what version you are currently using (i.e. did the automatic updater install a newer version of OneDrive than the one you installed)?

    Thanks!

A full system format and reload of an operating system was done already and problem remained. That was before 6/25 though. I have tried doing what you stated a while back and even again after 6/25 with the Onedrive still breaking. (Seems to be at build intervals.) For the registry cleaner,   I use ccleaner and it does a great job.

Last update I  received was 7/11/2018,  however, my update number was KB4338819. The current build working as of now for me is 18.111.0603.0006_1
