Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.  

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

    Can I ask you to explain what a "registry cleaner" is?  Can you also let me know what version of OneDrive you installed and what version you are currently using (i.e. did the automatic updater install a newer version of OneDrive than the one you installed)?

    As previously posted, I've been stable since 6/25 (well, 6/23 actually).. Strongly recommend: uninstall, run a registry cleaner, reboot, then run the standalone install. In that order. I'm convinced there's a registry key involved. As I said, mine's been stable for a few weeks now. Have undergone updates KB4343669 and last night (7/11/18) KB338819.. So far, Onedrive is purring along happily so I believe I've found the solution.

    You do not need to delete anything. This is what I am doing to make this as painless as possible. Saves me a ton of extra steps. 

    First, make a Shortcut of your one drive folder on your desktop. Whenever the onedrive stops working, just double click your shortcut you made, double-click whichever folder is the newest build and run the application- file named OneDriveSetup. You do not need to delete anything. This will update your onedrive within less than 30 seconds-60 seconds and once you are done, it will be working just like before.

    It doesn't matter which version you install.  When you log off your Win10 account and/or your computer goes into sleep mode, the onedrive.exe file is deleted.  Shortcuts don't work.  you have to delete Onedrive then reinstall Onedrive.  

    I noticed this immediately after the 1803 Windows update.  it is not affecting my desktop and my notebook.

    very disappointed in the lack of help from Microsoft.
