Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

One more idea.  OneDrive.exe disappears when OneDrive tries to automatically update.

    I have googled the following:

    https://coretechnologies.com/blog/miscellaneous/disable-onedrive-automatic-updates/

I have just disabled the scheduler that does the automatic update.  I am guessing this will work.  Of course, the problem is that one will have to manually update...

So it just happened to me again.  I see that OneDrive downloaded a new version of itself, but it didn't complete and thus onedrive disappeared.

I kept a "copy" of the OneDrive.exe file.  I ran it and then the new version finished installing.  Crazy that this keeps happening.

Not sure what to do about it...

This worked for me when Windows 10 would not uninstall OneDrive. Thank you.

I, too, have the same problem. I think it is related One Drive updates as OneDrive.exe disappears after an update has been pushed. These updates seem to happen every few days/weeks which coincide with the disappearance of OneDrive.exe. It seems to me the update process is broken. BTW I have version 18.111.0603.0006. It was released on 7/9/18 and today, 7/10/18, OneDrive.exe was missing.

I've been stable since 6/25 (well, 6/23 actually).. Strongly recommend: uninstall, run a registry cleaner, reboot, then run the standalone install. In that order. I'm convinced there's a registry key involved. As I said, mine's been stable for a few weeks now. FWIW, the standalone install (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=248256) is still at 18.025.0204.009
