Windows 10 Taskbar bug presented in 1709, worst on 1803 upgrade

This is NOT a complex issue. You fix something like this in 20 minutes work of programming. They could even do a quick and dirty workaround, of just resetting the frame if you switch resolutions. They wont fix this. There are bugs like this since beta of Windows 10. For example, if you flip a tablet into tablet mode and switch landscape mode, there is a high chance, that the task menu date is shifted ut of the screen and you cant see it anymore. They never fixed this too, where it is easy to fix.

I do agree that it shouldn't be a complex problem to fix. But this is Microsoft we're talking about. I share similar frustrations about things that don't get fixed, such as this one: If you use the "Microsoft Store" version of Office 365 that is preinstalled on a new W10 computer, and change your default PDF viewer to the Adobe Reader instead of the Microsoft one, Outlook will forever prompt what app you want to open PDF attachments with, despite clicking the "always use this app" checkbox. The only solution is to remove the Store version, and download/install O365 from the portal.

I have several examples of things that have impacted Windows Server as well, such as one of the patches back in March that broke Ethernet adapters in virtual Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 machines, or the .NET framework security patch that just came out a few days ago, that doesn't install successfully on 2012 R2 if the "preview" patch was installed the month before. Their workaround is to remove the preview patch and perform a DISM cleanup.

It feels to me, that Microsoft's QA is absolutely atrocious at finding things that should be caught, and we users have become the unpaid QA. Computerworld's Woody Leonhard (Woody on Windows) rails about that, justifiably, all the time. My personal opinion when it comes to Windows 10, is that Microsoft is far more focused on introducing new features, than fixing existing problems. I wish they would take a lesson from Apple, and have a cycle or two where they focus on bugfixes/reliability/stability/improvements that don't involve new features.

As for this specific overflow window problem, I don't know, it just bugs me more than "normal," and I intend on being a dog with a bone as long as it takes.

about the blurry icons, as someone mentioned, it doesn't happen to ALL icons, however, MOST icons are affected. also, it is not reserved to some 3rd party apps.

for me, the only icons that are NOT AFFECTED are:

• task manager status icon
• network status icon
• battery icon
• volume icon

icons AFFECTED:

• windows defender notification icon (white shield with green checkmark badge when no issue)
• IDrive
• every other 3rd party app i've used

Indeed, regarding the blurriness problem, Jason mentioned that the Windows Defender icon was one of the worst offenders for him.

It's funny in college I had an internship doing software release testing where I tested for issues just like this by feeding in various inputs and commands.

In my programming classes I very frequently had sizing issues with various menus and such when creating GUIs. It would take me days to figure out the issue and I often had to get help. So I somewhat know the frustrations with a problem like this, though they are professional programmers, I am not. And I don't think it ever took me month to resolve.

Turned out I was just not cut out for software development and went into IT security.

I have seen the queues of tickets that build up and the prioritization that had to be done where issues like this are behind hundreds of other things that are more critical. Software development is no easy task.

Not sure if this bug was already listed, but there is a high chance if returning from a game to desktop, that after it, Windows Explorer is broken and doesnt show selection colors anymore. If you select anything it isnt marked with a different background anymore, and you cant see, what files are selected. Only way to fix this is to reboot Windows. You also have no manual select checkboxes anymore in this broken state. It then looks like this:

Windows 10 is full of these bugs and I could name at least 5 more of these, which make Windows 10 unusable and no one cares to fix them, no one. They are present now over 2 years and since beta of Windows 10.

It seems to me, the Windows 10 team is way too small (Nutella fired them all) and also, the good old people, who learned how to program, how to debug, how to test... are all gone and retired now, and these young people now working at MS have never told or learned to to properly test code, and have no real knowledge to code bug free or at least try to.

I personally haven't encountered that Explorer object selection problem. However, if I'm able to reproduce any repeatable Windows 10 problem on multiple computers, I will file a support ticket on it.
