Windows 10 Taskbar bug presented in 1709, worst on 1803 upgrade

Hi again, i manage to workaround the paint and snipping with bandican, i just open the app, start recording and now is working again ( its temporary)

here i can show the taskbar bug

As you can see, there is some blurry icons (it can get worst) and the hidden feature it has a strage aspect and only show 3 on 3 open app... as you can see there are 12 app on there, if i open one or two app, it dont show them, but if i open 3 more and count as 15 apps, some times the hidden feature it shows them.

I dont what much i can tell about this issue, but is annoying, hope you guys can do something about it since is presented on older versions of Windows 10, just dont remenber  if was presented in the Anniversary update or the Creators update, but i think not, it started on the Fall Creator update.

PS: The screenshoot that i post when i open the topic, its everything ok on there, it was taken when i restart the pc, the bug happend after i close any game or any fullscreen app (do not happend with browser fullscreen, like youtube), the bug stays there untill the next reboot.

Let's try to find a pattern with it.  For example, it looks as if you are concerned with the "Notification area" icons.  Try disabling problem ones from appearing in there (for a test).  Right now I would guess that you have  Always show all icons in the notification area  set.  If you undo that option then you can turn off problem icons from appearing in there.  It looks to me that different sized icons may be allowed in there.  FWIW in my case I have two in there which don't have icons in there at all, just blue boxes where there would be icons, Task Manager(!) and Windows Live Mail.  I can try enabling those to see if it helps me see your problem symptom.

Also, you mentioned that you think having had a Fullscreen app open first is a necessary condition for the problem to occur, so my first guess was that display resolution might have been changed by doing that.  I think that some apps have such a requirement and that that capability is possible for them.  So, for that reason I would suggest using right-click Desktop, Graphics Options, Resolution, etc. to change your problem display's resolution.  This tack would also raise the question of whether the problem symptom is evident on another display which might not have been involved with the Fullscreen app.  And if you do have another display perhaps you could try putting your Fullscreen app only on it because it looks as if the Notification area can only appear on the primary display's Taskbar.  Then that could be a way of avoiding the problem symptom.

BTW I think it may help if you said what you had to do to make all icons appear without the dropdown arrow for the Notification area.  OIC.  That's when you would turn on the above option.  So you would have all icons in there checked including problem ones as well?  Then as another change which might be another potential workaround, please see if moving your Taskbar to a side location does anything useful.  E.g. I would suspect that all icons might have to be re-rendered for that new format.  Even better would be to change the display's orientation, e.g. switch to Portrait from Landscape, since that would almost certainly involve a different re-rendering of all icons due to the display's aspect ratio.

This smells like the issue I reported (using the Feedback Hub) during the Insider Preview of Windows 10 Version 1803 (multiple builds). It received no traction.

I’m running a custom-built PC with an Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card, connected via DisplayPort to a UHD monitor.  Windows display scaling is set to 150% (Recommended).

After such activities as:

• An RDP session to my PC (I connect to it remotely from a MacBook Pro laptop, using Microsoft’s current Remote Desktop client)
• A Gamestream session using an Nvidia Shield
• A Steam Link SBP session
• Things that temporarily change the screen resolution

My system tray icons get messed up, in that a portion of them disappear, and the icon spacing becomes more “compressed.”

The only way I’ve found to correct this condition, is to log out and log back in to Windows.  The condition can be “temporarily corrected” by changing the Windows display scaling to either 125% or 100%, which of course is not desirable.  Additionally, I’ve found that the system tray icons seem to all be visible inside an RDP session, albeit with extra spacing.  When I’m back on the “console” of the PC, the system tray icons are messed up again.

These issues did not happen with previous versions of Windows 10.

I'm having this exact same issue and it's been driving me nuts. Please fix this Microsoft, it was fine before the most recent update.
