Don't listen to that moron suggestion to use scaling at 100. You cant use scaling of 100 on a 4k laptop display.

I highly recommend that you perform the workaround posted to keeping the scaling at 100

Thanks EJ - while this does work-around the issue, it's not a realistic setting when using a UHD display, as the textual items are just too hard to read. That would have been fine in my 20s...

From working with Jason (the Sr. escalation engineer guy), it is clear that multiple groups within Microsoft (as well as 3rd-parties) have a hand in this problem, and getting traction on fixing it is a bit like herding cats. Still, it baffles me that decision-makers at Microsoft allowed this into the wild in the first place. "First, do no harm" applies for software, too, and that this wasn't caught in QA in the first place, painfully illustrates either a total lack of it, or disregard for it.

This is not a debilitating bug, but is a bit like selling new cars with dented fenders. You'd think someone at Microsoft would care.

In the meantime, despite your computer being registered as an Insider, I highly recommend that you perform the word around posted to keeping the scaling at a 100 in the meantime while we still investigate this further. We appreciate you sharing further details on this issue.

Just an update, I did test 17728.1000 last weekend, but not for very long. I couldn't make the second issue (notification overflow window getting cut off by the taskbar) happen. However, last night I installed 17735.1000, which was just released a few days ago. I tested with that today and, sadly, the second issue is apparently not fixed:

That Uplay icon is getting cut off.

Sigh, I'm going to report this to Jason on Monday.

Update: I've been testing this more over the weekend with more notification apps installed, and the issue does seem to be improved, as the only app icon having problems is Uplay, and it sometimes completely disappears even when running (and showing up when making it always present on the taskbar).

A quick workaround to the issue of being unable to access hidden icons is right click on '^' -> Taskbar Settings ->Notification Area (select which icons appears on the taskbar) and toggle ones you want to access.
