file explorer not showing thumbnails for onedrive folder

Many of my images have no thumbnail in my users one drive folder, even for files that are downloaded to my pc.

Full path C:\Users\myuser\OneDrive\Pictures\Camera Roll

How can I fix this? There was a time when thumbnails always worked for this folder, but I can't remember when this stopped working, it's been a couple/few weeks perhaps.

Also, why are some of the images near the end only available online. In my one drive settings this entire folder is set to sync.

I had the same issue and to fix it I went into the settings of the One Drive app and disabled (untick) the Files On Demand service then hit OK. Then after a restart of the PC all thumbnails within my One Drive folders had returned.

No I idea why this works but it did for me and hopefully will do for you also.

Hi, no it's not for me.

I have this OneDrive version and I still Don't Have my Folders fix and the preview of the Album CD on all my mp3 files.

It's been a year and a half since this happen (with the launch of files on demand), and I'm not sure that Windows care about this issues.

We still use it, we still pay for it, so why would they losing their time to fix something who work for them.

So I think I may not pay for another year in 2020 and try to find Something that really works!

Make sure you have the latest Windows updates, if so and still didn't fixed then check the solution I posted above.

It worked for me, but had to uninstall onedrive and reinstall from scratch.  Luckily, the sync was complete overnight.  All thumbnails appear to be showing up normally.

I have the last Windows Updates. I have the last OneDrive Update.

I tried everything posted here. I even reboot my laptop, and install again W10 with a full reboot 3 weeks ago.

    None of this works.

The only thing that work is to desactivate Files on demand. And if I choose to reactivate Files on Demand, all my thumbnails just disapear, even if I restart my laptop.

So Yes Files on Demand is the problem here.

And it's a shame we have to choose betwen this function (who is great, even if I prefer the one I had on my Surface RT back in the days), and having all the thumbnails and previews.
