file explorer not showing thumbnails for onedrive folder

Many of my images have no thumbnail in my users one drive folder, even for files that are downloaded to my pc.

Full path C:\Users\myuser\OneDrive\Pictures\Camera Roll

How can I fix this? There was a time when thumbnails always worked for this folder, but I can't remember when this stopped working, it's been a couple/few weeks perhaps.

Also, why are some of the images near the end only available online. In my one drive settings this entire folder is set to sync.

I had the same issue and to fix it I went into the settings of the One Drive app and disabled (untick) the Files On Demand service then hit OK. Then after a restart of the PC all thumbnails within my One Drive folders had returned.

No I idea why this works but it did for me and hopefully will do for you also.

    I tried to find "settings" as the OP suggested; all I found was One Drive in the Start Menu. Clicking that, it asked that I login.... poof!!! All thumbnails showed-up in the Explorer Window. Why does this crap have to be so hard; worse part, it'll be different in a Month or so.....

    Haven't checked the whole thread (sorry) but one workaround is to type something - anything - in the search box of the OneDrive folder which isn't showing thumbnails. 

    Then the search results will appear as thumbnails. Searching with an asterisk will show every image in the folder.

    Unfortunately, this trick only works during the search. Next time you open the folder ... no thumbnails.

    MS really need to fix this bug in OneDrive, which has been going on for months now.

    Hi Giant Wooky,

    It seems to work, every time I take a look some more thumbs did return.

    I assume that after some time all will be well.

    However the advantage of the cloud for these files is only the backup function now.

    The advantage of saving disk space is gone.

    But Wooky, to be honest, you made me happy today.

    This does NOT work:

     File Explorer > View > Extra large icons. large icons or medium icons

    nor:

    (untick) the Files On Demand in OneDrice

    nor:

    Uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails 

    nor:

    Check Show thumbnails instead of icons

    OK. Now please assume that I have done ALL THESE THINGS.

    Please help me with finding a solution.

    Because I don't have my thumbnails showing in my OneDrive Folders. But when I copy the images over to another folder that's not oneDrive they do show up. C'mone guys, lets get to the bottom of this.
