Hello,

0xC1900101 is generic error code and points to driver incompatibility while you opt to upgrade. You need to read the dialog, which likely came before this error message. There should be additional information with the detail. The dialog will tell you what devices are having a problem. That is the one you need to get a new driver for.

Once you fixed the driver(s) mentioned with detail, the error will no longer persist.

Hope this helps!

You could try the recommendations of MarkinWPG of April 28, 2018 to block the update until all the bugs are exorcised. Here is the Microsoft Community link:

I've postponed it for 35 days, though the same issue has happened 5 months ago with the previous fall update.

The only solution was a clean install... I'm not convinced that it will work after 1 month.

I will wait and see. But I believe the issue with this upgrade is the same one, and it wasn't solved. It's something related to the installer.

I wonder if I will have to do a clean install every 6 months when a new major update comes through.

What about quick fix #8: Update firmware and drivers? What is the make & model of the computer? Have you gone to its site?

I would do all the quick fixes, &, if I felt enough had changed, I'd try the upgrade once more. But I'd do it manually from Installation Media.

The windows update supposed to fix the problems and improve the OS and security. Always when I see an update I keep my fingers crossed and hope that the update will install without any problems. I'm not a spiritual guy but never helps :P.

No seriously I got a laptop and a desktop pc. Because of the windows update problems I don't use the laptop for 1, 5 years now. Desktop pc I managed with lot of pain and lot of spending money to a pc repair store, to get the windows update installed. Now after 6 months update 1803 (sigh). I'm sick and tired of windows OS and with their updates. No wonder why people are buying mac books now. I agree it's time to say good bye to windows forever and buy apple products.
