Windows 10 1803 Update Error 0xc1900101

Windows 10 1803 update gives this message  0xc1900101. Then windows update starts the download again.

Then it's message 0x80070005.

How to escape from this.Win10 pro, 1709

Hello,

0xC1900101 is generic error code and points to driver incompatibility while you opt to upgrade. You need to read the dialog, which likely came before this error message. There should be additional information with the detail. The dialog will tell you what devices are having a problem. That is the one you need to get a new driver for. 

Once you fixed the driver(s) mentioned with detail, the error will no longer persist.

    20OCT2018 and this issue still persists. When will MS fix this bug in the installer? How many re-tries does the install need to do before it gives up and informs MS that 1803 is just bad bad bad.

    From my experiences it is not just version 1803 that's been bad. I've been fighting with these dang Windows 10 updates basically since ten went mainstream and yeah it has gotten very tiring to say the least, rarely use most of my computers now because of them.

    My main gripes - FORCED updates and the fact there is no way of knowing if one's PC/hardware is compatible or not until all is said and done. The latter can render one's computer useless if not and something I am all too familiar with time and time again

    • I'd venture to guess I've refreshed more computers in the past 3 years than the 27 years prior, pretty sad if you ask me.

    Oh, and another gripe is the fact the solutions to these problems are endless and there is NO one fix for all. So one could spend minutes or literally days/weeks trying to resolve, or never finding a solution at all.

    Nope, MS really dropped the ball w/Windows 10 IMHO cuz it definitely hasn't made my life easier. Come to a point where we've been switching to Windows 7, using a MAC, or Linux, just to get back on track. Have no desire either to purchase a new PC because of these update inconsistencies and the work that follows.

    M$ now has 1000s of H-1Bs, and this is what happens - stuff is put out that does not work.
