Hello,

0xC1900101 is generic error code and points to driver incompatibility while you opt to upgrade. You need to read the dialog, which likely came before this error message. There should be additional information with the detail. The dialog will tell you what devices are having a problem. That is the one you need to get a new driver for.

Once you fixed the driver(s) mentioned with detail, the error will no longer persist.

Hope this helps!

I would want to resist paying out dollars as well. And that is a valid complaint, no one should have to suffer 3 hours worth of an install process before getting an error message that might have come earlier. There should be a better check up front for issues that might arise.

If you must go to Unix - good luck. Maybe someday pop back in & tell us how it went.

I have tried just about everything and it just refuses. My next attempt will be a clean install on a different hard drive. Windiws 10 is proving to be worse than Vista. If this doesn't work it will be Linux from now on.

Oh no no please please don’t switch to Linux please no

Just do it.  Switch to linux.  I hear it’s a fantastic desktop OS and isn’t totally useless.

Thank you very much for the answer.

Something for Microsoft to think about: as we see from above you can check the driver, environment at anytime, so why I do have to wait for the failure for 3h (on very fast hardware) ?

Please check at get go and tell me what to do - like 0x0nnnnnn specific to the hardware - or better yet write it in English.

It happened before, I call them - Microsoft - they asked for $$$ to help I said no ; waited 1/2 year and free update eventually come and succeeded.

I am old and going back to Unix

If you were truly “going back to Unix”, you wouldnt have bothered posting here.  But please do.
