Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4103721 Version 1803

This update has some serious issues, specifically. Do NOT install this update after updating to Windows 10 version 1803. It will prevent your computer from booting up. I am stuck on the spinning circle for a long time. I have to use a Windows 10 USB to boot into the Troubleshooting and use Command Prompt to boot into safe mode. Please fix this update!

I discovered that if you installed a program from Iobit (like Driver Booster, for example) it creates a service called "LiveUpdate" with full name, as I remember, "LiveUpdateSvc".

Even if you remove the program the service will remain and this cause the KB4103721 update to fail to boot Windows after the update.

Uninstall all Iobit programs and remove the service from the administrator command prompt typing "sc delete LiveUpdateSvc" (check it is the correct service name) and then you will be updating Windows without any problem.

I experienced this issue on two computers and this has been the solution.

    Most of the people having problems have ASC running.  Uninstall and things work.

    I haven't had problems with this update and I think I've got the solution. Please restart your machine, click F 8, or F 10, whatever gets you into the boot menu and choose your hard drive to boot with.

        That should work and your headache is gone. Please report back if somebody fixed it that way.

       It seems that the machine isn't booting because it doesn't know from where. So, when you're following my advice, once booted with your hd, it will work again for the next boots.

    Wie hier im Thread bereits mindestens erwähnt, was neben solchen bekannten erste Hilfemaßnahmen wie Wiederherstellung (Wiederherstellungspunkt), Starthilfe, Zurücksetzen, …  …  …  auch probiert werden kann,

    ist die Deinstallierung KB 4103721 über die Eingabeaufforderung.

    Habe es selbst in diesem Fall nicht getestet. Bei Ausführung über einen externen Datenträger

    ist auf den möglichen anderen Laufwerksbuchstaben zu achten, der zuvor zu ermitteln wäre.

    Wie sich andeutet, kann oder kann mit das Problem im Zusammenhang von gespeicherter und/ oder installierter Software stehen.

    Insoweit könnte es ebenfalls unter Umständen hilfreich sein, potentiell infrage kommende Downdloads zu löschen bzw. und auf ein externes nicht am Gerät angeschlossenes Speichermedium zu verschieben.

    Ausgeschlossenen muss nicht sein, dass anderes als gespeicherte und/ oder installierte Software hinzutreten kann oder ursächlich ist.

    Möglicherweise sind auch Maßnahemen wie Updateverlauf löschen oder Ähnliches erforderlich.

    Soweit insbesondere im Ergebnis sich ein Zusammenhang mit installierter an sich gut gepflegter aktueller Software, vor allem bei Pro - Varianten, als wahrscheinlich erweist, könnte vielleicht auch ein Feedback gegenüber dem Hersteller dieser Software sowie an Microsoft über den Feedback - Hub nützlich sein.

    If you have ASC, (Advanced System Care), installed on your PC, then Uninstall it and then you should be able to update. Seems like most people have been reporting that its ASC this time causing the problem with this update.

    You could also try manually download the the update by going to Microsoft's update catalog and install the version that matches your computer needs, ie x86 for a 32 bit OS version or the x64 if you have the 64bit version of Windows 10.
