Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - (Unable to connect to world) Friend can't join me and I can't join friend

Whenever we try to connect to each other's worlds through the Xbox app it says "Unable to connect to world". We can play together on a realms server, and can join other servers, just not each other.

I've changed my NAT type to open, and port forwarded all the required ports for the Xbox app. Still nothing.

I've tried using a VPN to several different countries but still has the same results.

We are both using Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition.

We have both uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft, no luck.

This is simply not good enough, no error code, no official response, nothing. Every time Microsoft has issues like this it's always the customers fault. Respond to this thread, we know you can see this.

Children play this game, children should not be expected to understand how to check their network configurations. If they wanted to be performing commands and/or checking their net config they'd be playing Minecraft Java edition.

What the *Hell* is the point in this simplified "Bedrock" edition, if it makes things even more complicated?

Good lord. This reads like it was copied and pasted from a 2010 troubleshooting thread for some outrageously vague question on an obscure forum. No one should be typing in commands for this.

This really needs to be fixed.

(Also, none of that worked. If you're reading this with the same issue, keep googling)

Yeah the given solutions are poor. I've never had an issue so prevalent for an online game. Most other PC games I've had just work. I've probably wasted a good 2-3 hours trying to get this to work to play with my younger brother. I shouldn't have to reset IP settings to play a game... why is this the only game I have where this needs to be done?

Also, why is there no error code? You'd think it'd be relatively easy to slip in some sort of error code to help the user debug an issue. Not simply "unable to connect".

    Disappointing.
